The Third Chapter on the Vajra Place: An Extensive Explanation of How the Buddha-nature Pervades. The Third Chapter on the Vajra Place: An Extensive Explanation of How the Buddha-nature Pervades. Next, there are two aspects to explaining how the Buddha-nature pervades and abides in the realm of sentient beings: a general explanation of the manner of pervasion and a specific explanation of the dharmas of pervasion. The first of these also has two aspects: the actual dharmas of pervasion and the dispelling of doubts about them. The first is: The Vajrasattva Heart Mirror Tantra says: "In all sentient beings of the world, the essence of the Tathagata abides, just as oil pervades sesame seeds." The Ornament of Jewels Sutra says: "Just as oil is naturally and perfectly present in sesame or mustard seeds, so too, in what appears as the body of sentient beings, the seed of the Tathagata appears with harmonious light." The Total Transformation Tantra says: "Self-awareness and wisdom abide in the body, like oil in sesame seeds. The radiance and splendor of the body are pervaded by the moisture of wisdom." The Self-Arisen Tantra says: "The intention of the true Buddha abides in the very nature of all sentient beings, in the form of body and wisdom." It is also taught in the common vehicle's sutras and tantras. The Hevajra Tantra says: "Great wisdom abides in the body, all thoughts are completely abandoned, it pervades all things, the body abides, it is not born from the body." The Great Nirvana Sutra says: "Son of good family, for example, a poor woman has a treasure of gold in her house, but no one knows it exists. Later, a skillful person says to the poor woman: 'Woman, can you work for wages at my sweeping place?' The woman says: 'I cannot.' 'If you can show me the treasure of gold hidden by your son, then you can work.' The man says: 'I am skilled in means, so I know the treasure of gold hidden by your son, and I will show it.' The woman says: 'How can you know when everyone in my house, great and small, does not know?' The man says: 'I know without doubt.' The woman says: 'I that'

Show me what I desire to see. Then, that man entered her house, dug up a gold mine, and showed it to the woman. The woman, seeing the treasure, was very happy and gave rise to rare and wonderful thoughts, and entertained that man. Son of the lineage, the Buddha-nature of all sentient beings is also like that, all sentient beings do not see it, just as a poor woman does not see a precious treasure. Son of the lineage, what I have shown is that all people have Buddha-nature, but it is obscured by afflictions and cannot be seen, just as a poor woman cannot see a treasure. Son of the lineage, the Tathagata also shows all sentient beings the treasure of perfect enlightenment, which is the Buddha-nature. Ordinary people, seeing such things, give rise to great joy, and revere and draw near to the Tathagata. The so-called skillful person is a metaphor for the Tathagata. The so-called poor woman is a metaphor for countless ordinary people. The so-called gold mine is a metaphor for Buddha-nature. Furthermore, the example of the giant's jewel is given first to illustrate. Son of the lineage, the Tathagata's teaching that all sentient beings have Buddha-nature is like a skilled doctor showing the giant's diamond jewel. Son of the lineage, within the bodies of all sentient beings, there are also the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the thirty-two marks, and the eighty minor marks, which have been extensively explained. The Uttaratantra Shastra also says: 'The perfect Buddha body is endless, the suchness is inseparable, because there is lineage, all sentient beings always have the Buddha-essence.' The Two Examinations Sutra says: 'Sentient beings are Buddhas, but are obscured by adventitious defilements. If these are removed, then they are Buddhas.' The Dohakosha says: 'All scholars explain the scriptures, but do not realize that the Buddha dwells within the body.' The Uttaratantra Shastra says: 'Just as a poor man in his house, in the ground'
