Although that appearance is how its own nature appears, it is not established as either delusion or non-delusion. As the "String of Pearls" says: "In the very great ground appearance, there is no designation called 'ignorance,' therefore there is no establishment as delusion. Since 'mind' is not universally designated, there is also no name for the impurity of delusion. Since there is no collection of names and letters, there is no imputed delusion. Since it is not known as 'dharma,' there is also no name for delusion imputed by mind. Since it is not established as mind and intellect, there is naturally no moving delusion. Since there are no subtle or coarse impurities, there is naturally no arising cause of delusion. Since there are no agent and object, where is there a grasping delusion?" So it says. However, from the aspect of knowing one's own nature and becoming a condition for liberation, it is designated as the basis of liberation; if one does not know, then from the aspect of becoming a condition for delusion, it is designated as the basis of delusion. Furthermore, this ground appearance is the basis of liberation, and primordial purity is the place of liberation, so distinguishing the difference between these two is extremely important, but very few can distinguish it well. Because it becomes a condition for delusion by relying on this, it is designated as delusion, like mistaking a white conch shell for yellow. Although it is not a real delusion, it is designated when it becomes a condition. As the "String of Pearls" says: "From the appearance of great distinction, the two, existence and non-existence, arise. The general is called the basis of delusion, because it is ignorance and combination. Knowledge itself also appears as impurity." And as the "Conch Shell Script" says: "That is the uncertain, spontaneously present ground, the three ignorances and four conditions, and the delusion combined by consciousness." So it says. Such a ground appearance, the appearance of its own nature being spontaneously present, appearing as vast as the expanse of the sky, and because samsara and nirvana arise from awareness and non-awareness, it is called the unprecedented, self-appearing, vast, and wonderful because of its vast expanse. As the "String of Pearls" says: "Clarity, manifest appearance, is very majestic. Appearance itself is very complete. Dharmakaya introduction and joy. Essence transparent, cavity wide. Nature all-pervading, expanse great. Compassion all-arising, bliss great. Pervasion primordial radiance, very clear. Abiding unobstructed, speed very fast. Awareness's own radiance, light very clear. Emptiness all-arising, nature wonderful. Not sought, left as is, therefore constant. Not obstructed, self-arising, therefore vast. The basis of existence established.

Soaring high. Effortless, self-liberation, vast and boundless. Primordial, great, perfectly skilled. Five colors, writing is excellent. Phenomenal existence, pure and undefiled, even and balanced. Self-arisen luminosity, arrangement is excellent. Great ground appearance, vast in capacity. Samsara and nirvana, the two are connected, perfectly skilled. Five Kayas, five wisdoms, layered, supremely excellent. Thus it is said. The third meaning is the liberation method of Kuntuzangpo, which is that in the moment arising from the ground, the eight doors of spontaneous accomplishment of the ground appearance appear as self-appearance. Without grasping at other, recognizing the self-sound with an impartial mind, the movement is cut off in itself. In the first moment, self-appearance arises, recognizing its own nature, realization arises, and thus distinctions are made. In the second moment, delusion is cleared and wisdom increases, the ground matures into the fruit, and recognizing the essence as originally enlightened, it is called becoming enlightened again. Self-appearance dissolves into primordial purity, and on the ground, becomes the teacher who is enlightened before all, called Kuntuzangpo. In the Thallgyur it says: Thus, samsara and nirvana have no beginning or end, the Buddha has not fallen into delusion, the自在者 arising from the ground, knows that self-appearance has no self-nature, discriminating thoughts and mind do not go outward, movement ceases in itself. Moreover, in the Great Perfection of Reality
