It remains thus. The Entering Path says: "Having burned all the dry firewood of knowable things, the peaceful ones are the Dharmakāya of the Victorious Ones. At that time, there is no birth and no cessation. The cessation of mind is the manifest body." It also says: "The peaceful body is clear like a wish-fulfilling tree. Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, it is non-conceptual. To liberate beings, it constantly benefits the world. This is free from elaboration and yet apparent." As it is said. Explaining the reasons in detail, there are three aspects: The obscuration of the self-arisen wisdom by the play of its own manifestation, and the reasons for dispelling it. The reason for attaining Buddhahood by recognizing the very nature of the Dharmakāya as it arises naturally from the freedom from the confines of materiality. The reason for benefiting beings with compassion after attaining Buddhahood. Firstly, the general way in which one's own manifestation and play obscure is shown. There are three aspects: the nature of the obscuration itself, a detailed explanation of the obscuration, and the nature of the purification with reasons. Among these, how the obscuration of one's own manifestation and play is purified by the key points is shown: Although the orb of the sun and moon in the center of the sky is clear, it is completely obscured by the essence of the great clouds of non-recognition. The way in which the essence of enlightenment exists within oneself is not apparent. When the realm of the Buddha's own nature, the essence of the Sugata, the nature of mind, is naturally clear like the orb of the sun and moon. Due to non-recognition, the order of containers and contents, gathered by the five objects such as form, arises from the play of awareness as the apprehended and the apprehender, and the play of mind and mental events is like clouds. Although the luminosity of one's own essence is unobscured, it appears as if it is obscured, like the sun and clouds. The realm of adventitious stains makes the self-appearance of the Dharmakāya unclear. It is taught that such a Dharmakāya exists within oneself and is made manifest by removing the adventitious stains: Just as the great clouds are placed in space and become clear, without effort, the clouds of cause and effect are cleared away. The essence of the heart of enlightenment in the center of the sky arises from itself. Because of the stages of faculties, the vehicles are different. Although the methods of purifying stains are different, here, from the perspective of those whose faculties are extremely extraordinary. The key point of self-settling is that the confused causes and

When all the clouds of the ground element, along with their habitual tendencies, dissolve into the expanse and, without being abandoned, are self-purified, like the sun obscured by dense clouds, it is invisible. But in the instant of being free from clouds, it appears self-luminous and unobstructed in the center of the sky. Likewise, the spontaneously accomplished, uncompounded Dharmakaya that is within oneself, in the instant of being free from sudden obscurations, the appearances of form and wisdom arise naturally in one's own mind. Because the never-setting sun rises in self-luminosity, it is said to be the Dharmakaya that is spontaneously accomplished with dual purity. As it is said in the *Lion's Complete Power Sutra*: "If there is no obscuring wood of appearance, wisdom is clear at the limit." Thus it is. The spontaneously accomplished Dharmakaya, in the first stage of sentient beings, in the intermediate stage of training on the path, and in the final stage of attaining Buddhahood, there is no good or bad. Just as the sun does not change for better or worse whether it is obscured by clouds, slightly cleared, or completely cleared. As it is said in the *Ornament of the Sutras*: "Suchness is in all things, there is no difference between before and after, but when all obscurations are purified." And as it is said in the *Two Examinations Sutra*: "Sentient beings are indeed Buddhas, but they are obscured by sudden stains. Removing them, they are indeed Buddhas." Thus it is taught. The way in which one's own power arises as play and obscures: The essence is clear like the sun in the expanse of the Dharmadhatu. The power, like rays, arises everywhere without limit. When the earth and lakes are covered with heat, the vapor arises as the play of clouds, obscuring the essence and the power as well. Likewise, from the essence itself, the impure self-power arises. Its play obscures the very essence of the heart in one's own mind. The confused appearances of the appearing world and beings, the container and its contents, are inconceivable. The appearance of the sun being obscured by clouds also originates from the power of the sun. When the power of the sun's rays strikes the earth and the ocean, heat is produced, and the rising vapor gathers in the sky to form clouds, which obscure the sun itself. Likewise, when the self-power of awareness stirs in the ground appearance, not recognizing it as oneself, one grasps it as self and other. Its play appears as the confused appearances of the container and its contents, the appearing world and beings, on the level of mind and minds. The three—body, speech, and mind—obscure the form, speech, and mind of the awareness that is naturally abiding as Buddha, and because it is invisible, the confusion of the six realms is called the appearance of the confused mind.
