Oti Zangma is that very nature, called Trekchö, called Jenpa, called Zangthal, called Yédrol, called Kadak, and also called Lhündrub. Although the names are different, in meaning, it is just one essential point, which is Zangma Jenpa. This key point has been explained very clearly, the ultimate intention of Nyingtik is just this. When this key point is realized, there is no need to deliberately do anything or make effort. Even those with superior faculties can attain Buddhahood without practice, because there is no object to be practiced and no practitioner, no object to be protected and no protector, and so on. This meaning transcends everything that has not been liberated from the training of focusing inward and radiating outward, meditation, grasping and being grasped. This is self-born wisdom, free from elaboration. As Khyunchen said: "All dharmas are free from elaboration and without impurity, the key point of effortless self-liberation is very profound." Similarly, in "Simultaneous": "Various natures are non-dual, parts are also free from elaboration. As it is, without thinking, the all-illuminating Samantabhadra. Having grasped it, abandon the disease of effort, abiding spontaneously is placement." In "The All-Creating": "How it appears, its nature is just how it is, one. To this, no one should modify. In the unmodifed, equal king, abide in the intention of the inconceivable Dharmakaya." The difference between the play of compassion and the distinction of grasping mind is: the awareness that arises from the play is the mind of elaboration, from which arise various habitual tendencies of grasping and being grasped. Grasping the non-object as an object, hence the five objects; grasping the non-self as self, hence the five afflictions. All the illusions of the outer and inner world arise from the play. Because of not understanding and wrongly clinging, there is appearance. Awareness is the nature of compassion, Zangthal Jenpa, naturally clear like a spotless mirror. Because of not understanding the play of compassion Zangma that arises from manifestation, from the play, on the object, the two thoughts of arising and ceasing in an instant. From the subtle part of clarity and non-cessation, mistakenly thinking they are one, if awareness arises without grasping, it is wisdom; if grasping, it is called thought. Therefore, releasing or viewing that which arises is the great emptiness without seeing any direction, called the elephant stretching out. Here, distinguish the two separately.

The way to do it is: Just as images appear in a mirror, when objects appear to awareness, the knowing is naked and clear, not scattered into conceptual thoughts. This is called the play of compassion's manifestation. If this is not recognized, then the knowing scatters outward onto objects, which is called the conceptual thought of grasping subject and object. Because of the habit of clinging to objects, the power of the illusion of external objects increases, and they appear in various ways. Because of clinging to the inner mind, afflictions appear as the five poisons, and thus karma and afflictions each form the cycle of illusion. Thus, there is a difference between awareness not moving from its self-luminous state and scattering onto objects. There is a great error on a similar basis. As it says in the Lion's Complete Power: O King of Self-Appearing Dharma, the power of awareness is uninterrupted, ask your own wisdom. The samadhi without an object is, ask in the nature of non-effort. The mind of object-clarity, primordially non-existent, ask in the pure realm of reality. This is shown as the meaning of the intention. The root of the Alaya consciousness and, the root of self-knowing objects, two, there is a great error on a similar basis. Ignorance appearing as mind and, awareness, the appearance of non-conceptual thought, two, there is a great error on a similar basis. So it is said. In the Six Spaces it says: Self-knowing, free from thought and, the various arising feelings of the mind, two, similar, similar, it is an error. Wisdom's self-power complete and, the mind's thoughts scattering outward, two, similar, similar, it is an error. So it is said. This key point is very important, distinguishing the difference is the domain of practice for a few who possess the eye of wisdom. Even though it is explained clearly in this way, if there are those who do not understand, or rely on the reversed aspect, then, the venerable Saraha said: How can animals and the world understand? It is certain to fall into what he said. Now, for the realized yogi, the key point that the appearance of movement and scattering and object-appearance are just a play of illusion without contamination is: From where it has not come, to where it has not gone, where it does not abide, in the vast space of Dharma-nature, by realization, the three realms are completely liberated, it is called superior seeing. The words of Ati Spontaneous Vajra Essence, arise from the space of Samantabhadra's vast expanse. For the yogi who nakedly realizes the meaning of this Great Perfection, awareness is purely naked, the object-appearance reflects back on the face of awareness.
