All sentient beings, possessions, and implements of samsara, and all the illusory appearances of happiness and suffering in samsara, are impermanent. As stated in the *Extensive Play Sutra*: "Conditioned things are not stable, they are impermanent. Like an unbaked clay pot, they are of the nature of destruction. Like something adorned with another's property, like a sandcastle, they are impermanent." Also, as stated in the *Sutra Requested by King Udayana*: "Life is unstable, impermanent, and fleeting. Like a clay pot, it is subject to destruction." Therefore, all conditioned dharmas of samsara are impermanent and without essence. As stated in the *Extensive Play Sutra*: "The qualities of desire are momentary and fleeting, like illusions and mirages, false and unreal. Like bubbles of water, they are without essence. Know that all arise from conceptual thought." Therefore, generating renunciation towards the certainty of destruction is: The three realms are in the belly of impermanent Yama. Those with abodes are continuously controlled by him. Not going elsewhere, clinging and attached to this place. The Lord of Death always holds them tightly. From birth itself, they are born to die. All six types of beings, friends in the cycle of rebirth, is it not better to leave from here now? Together with me, let us go to the city of liberation, adorned with the wealth of the immortal victors, constantly peaceful, and naturally accomplished. This is a summarizing verse. In the context of the small treatise on samsara, in the *Vinaya Root Text, Basis of Dwellings*: "All of this is seized by the impermanent rakshasa." Generating renunciation with the certainty of reason is: Because the four elements are assembled, both the outer world and inner beings are of the nature of destruction. The city inhabited by sentient beings will eventually decay. Among these, impermanence that arises from action, that is, things assembled from causes and conditions; impermanence that does not arise from action, such as water bubbles and other things that appear as outer vessels; examples of impermanent change, such as clouds, lightning, rainbows, hail, and so on; impermanence that arises from birth, that is, sentient beings; momentary impermanence, such as illusions, magic tricks, and gandharva cities; impermanence without a fixed time, one should contemplate one's own lifespan, and without a moment's delay, one should diligently practice the Dharma. As stated in the *Extensive Play Sutra*: "Conditioned things are impermanent, like the flame of a lamp, of the nature of quickly arising and ceasing."
