Since the reasoning of momentariness and time, as well as the absence of beginning and end, has also refuted it, it is absurd to assert that what appears but does not exist is like a reflection of the moon in water, and there is no difference in what appears to the consciousness of delusion. If there is a difference in whether or not something can function, such as the moon in the sky dispelling darkness while the moon in water does not, then this one-sided examination is similar. If that is the case, then just as the moon in water cannot function, the moon in the sky should also be unable to function, because the function of appearing in a pond cannot be done by the moon in the sky, since it is only the moon in the sky. Therefore, the moon in the sky cannot fully function in all respects, only in terms of appearance. Thus, all things are like the moon in water. The Samadhiraja Sutra says: 'Just as the moon in the water at night, clear and without stain, appears in a lake, the moon in the water is empty and without essence. Know all dharmas to be like that.' Thus, although it appears to arise from the appearance of dependent origination of cause and condition, it is not reasonable to assert that it arises only from others. If arising from others is established in name, then arising from oneself will also be established. If that is not possible, because it is not possible to arise when oneself is established or not established, then arising from others is also not possible, because if the cause has ceased, then arising will become without cause, and if it arises from a cause that has not ceased, then it will become arising from permanence, and thus will not arise. And things that arise simultaneously cannot be established as what is produced and what produces. And arising from a continuous thing, because the encounter is blocked, it is simply not established. Therefore, the arising of the result from the cause is only an appearance. In the nature of things and in name, there is no self or other, so it is not established that it arises from that. However, the appearance of arising from others is also an illusion, and since it does not exist in reality, it should also be known that other-arising is not established. The mere appearance of arising from cause and condition is not denied, as it is said: 'How appearance is not denied, here the cause of suffering, the delusion of grasping as true, is what should be abandoned.' Like that. If you also assert other-arising while not denying appearance, that is not correct, because there is no examination of self and other in appearance, and there is no talk of arising and not arising, and the mind has not determined whether it ceases or does not cease. Therefore, through the reasoning of examining permanence and impermanence, things and time, etc., appearance
