There is the fault of non-discrimination. There is the fault of despising the merit of the two accumulations with characteristics. There is the fault of being falsely slandered by those of inferior intelligence. There is the fault of being ignorant of the object of knowledge. There is the fault of confusing what to accept and reject in terms of virtue and vice. There is the fault of abandoning the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, deceiving believers with the view of emptiness and causing them to fall into evil destinies, saying there is nothing to do and remaining as ordinary beings, proclaiming secrets to the immature, since there are many faults, the vehicles are explained in stages. By clinging to the extreme of emptiness, one denigrates cause and effect, and there is the fault of the result being falling into evil destinies. As it says in the Ratnarashi Sutra: 'Subhuti, the view of a person as high as Mount Meru is better, but it is not so for those with pride who cling to emptiness, because it cannot be cured.' Since everything is primordially of the nature of space, there is nothing to do. Saying that doing so will lead to ruin, clinging to the ease of the three doors, there is the fault of beings remaining as ordinary people. As it says in the same text: 'In the future, monks with pride, foolish as sheep, will say that the Blessed One said that all dharmas are like space, therefore do not strive for any dharma, thus making the alms of the village without fruit. These people will not even attain the bliss of heaven, let alone unsurpassed enlightenment.' Proclaiming secrets to the immature will cause the obscuration of the karma of abandoning the Dharma. As it says in the Middle Mother Sutra: 'Subhuti, do not speak of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness to those who are beginners and newly entered into the Great Vehicle.' Why is that? Because they will be startled, frightened, and have wrong views, thereby abandoning it. And as it says in the Fourteenth Root Downfall: 'Proclaiming secrets to beings who are not fully matured is the seventh.' Therefore, if one does not enter the vehicle in stages, there will be many faults, so one must enter only in stages. As it says in the Essence of the Earth Sutra: 'Children who are young in mind and lazy, who do not strive diligently in the two vehicles, will not become possessors of the great wheel of the Great Vehicle. This is not a vessel for the vast Great Vehicle. Children who seek liberation alone, whose intelligence and conduct are weak and without loving-kindness, who hold to annihilation and are attached to evil destinies.'

O! Righteously abandoning the true Dharma, showing what is not Dharma. Slandering the two vehicles, abandoning vows. Having taken the Bhikshu vows and promising the Mahayana: My Dharma will be destroyed, deceiving all sentient beings. By its power, it is difficult to obtain a human body. Thus it is said. Also in that very (sutra) it says: If the profound and vast Mahayana is taught to those who do not diligently practice the two vehicles, whose faculties are not mature, and who have little diligence, both the one who teaches and the one who listens will obtain extremely heavy sinful results, which is to oppose all the Sugatas. Therefore, although he claims to understand, he is a nihilist, holding that there is no cause and effect, slandering good and evil, saying that the Mahayana is false, causing the true Dharma to decline, showing Dharma as non-Dharma and non-Dharma as Dharma, he is a great heretic, although dwelling among humans, he is actually a Rakshasa, and for countless eons, it is difficult to obtain a human body. If milk is poured into an unwashed pottery, the defects of the vessel will cause both the vessel and the milk to deteriorate. Likewise, both the teacher and the disciple are ruined by pride. The fool who is recklessly attached to the view of emptiness with arrogance, does not abandon the ten non-virtues, although he diligently practices the Mahayana, it is impossible to generate the direct realization of the Dharma-nature, like a leaky boat entering the ocean, sowing seeds in sandy soil, or putting a little poison in a leather bag, all are unusable, or like applying fragrance to a rotting corpse, falling into evil destinies and evil paths, falling into great evil paths, therefore there is no chance of liberation. Therefore, one should gradually enter the Dharma like a vessel. In short, those who seek liberation must gradually study many Dharmas, one cannot walk many paths at the same time, nor can one attain liberation with only one Dharma, therefore it is advised to gradually study various methods. After that, the Dharma to be taught is the types of vehicles, and all the objects of knowledge to be taken and abandoned. For beginners, explain cause and effect, for those who have entered the path, explain the types of vehicles, and for those who practice benefiting others, explain the five sciences, etc. Explain the profound and vast sequence. Therefore, those who desire Bodhi should be proficient in all that should be taken and abandoned, and its nature.
