The abodes of the Four Great Kings and their retinues: In the east dwell the Gandharvas (持国天, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, dhṛtarāṣṭra, 持国); in the south, the Kumbhandas (增长天, Virūḍhaka, virūḍhaka, 增长); in the west, the Nagas (广目天, Virūpakṣa, virūpakṣa, 广目); and in the north, the various races of Yakshas (多闻天, Vaiśravaṇa, vaiśravaṇa, 多闻). The majesty of both of them resides above six and a half yojanas and one-eighteenth of one yojana. Within both the sun and moon, there are cities of gods, with gardens, ponds, and precious roads. Showers of flowers naturally fall to knee-height, old flowers wither away, and new flowers bloom vividly. The golden and silver fences above both the sun and moon encircle them at a distance of half a yojana. Those fences have roofs made of four kinds of jewels, and the ground inside is decorated with eight colors. It is as soft as cotton, bouncing when you lift your foot and sinking when you step on it. Mandarava flowers cover up to knee-height, old flowers are scattered by the wind, and new flowers bloom. The roads inside are five yojanas in length and half a yojana in width. The shapes are beautiful and pleasing to the eye, covered with golden sand and sprinkled with sandalwood water.
