Born perfectly pure, hence without obscurations. Free from the path of travel, hence without straying. Primordially spontaneously accomplished, hence without needing to be sought. The essence of all dharmas is the single bodhicitta. By enumerating and distinguishing the one, straying and obscurations arise. By traveling where there is no path to travel, straying occurs. By looking without an object of focus, not seeing and obscurations arise. Thus it is said. Whatever appears in the state of awareness does not move from the expanse; this is what is shown: The various appearances of beings and the world, And the pure bodies and wisdom of the Buddhas, Arise from the power of realization and non-realization, The unceasing play pervades the expanse of the sky. In the state of the dharmadhatu, there is only realization and non-realization. Realization is the pure appearance of the Sugatas, Non-realization arises from the habits of ignorance, grasping, and fixation, Though various appearances occur, they do not move from the expanse. The self-born wisdom of the expanse, if one knows its own nature, appears as a Buddha, and if one does not know it, it appears as a sentient being, but both are of one taste in the state of awareness, so there is no limitation or bias. As it says in the *All-Creating King*: "All that is included in appearances and existence, the container and its contents, All that is included in Buddhas and sentient beings, Because I, the All-Creating Bodhi, have made it, Everything is nothing but bodhicitta, Because there is no other than that, Everything is shown to be bodhicitta." Thus it is said. Such awareness is shown to be great, empty, luminous, and unceasing: Bodhicitta is the basis of everything, Its nature is unceasing, whatever appears, Is the self-luminous dharmata, the clear expanse of purity, So there is no distinction, it is the unrestricted flow of awareness. Like a flawless crystal ball, its essence is empty and luminous, and in the unborn state where nothing is established, the unceasing play arises, and anything can appear. As it says in *Self-Arisen Awareness*: "Not falling to any side, without limitation. Without inside or outside, vast and great. Pure and stainless, like a crystal ball. Appearances are said to be without inherent existence." Thus it is said. The extensive explanation of its nature is as follows: The unobstructed wisdom, the self-born, vast space, Unobstructed, luminous without inside or outside, The mirror of self-aware mind, great light, The wish-fulfilling jewel, the precious dharmadhatu. Without searching, everything arises spontaneously, The glory of self-born wisdom, arising as all that is desired. The self-born wisdom of the expanse, the pinnacle of the spontaneously accomplished jewel, is naturally luminous and...

The stainless rays of light pervade the entirety of samsara and nirvana, and it is called the Great Mirror of Bodhicitta. The vast nature of reality is beyond comprehension. As it says in the Lion's Perfected Strength: The Great Perfection is my Bodhicitta. The essence of awareness is non-conceptual. Because there is nothing, everything arises. And as it says in Self-Arisen: From the nature of unceasing play, The expanse of Samantabhadra itself dawns. The expanse of the Great Wisdom of realization, The nature of holding has no attachment. Non-conceptual, beyond words and thought, Like the magic of the sky. The vast expanse of awareness, the space of enlightenment, is shown as: The qualities of greatness, however many, The supreme means of arising from space to space, unceasingly dawning. Since everything is spontaneously perfected in the unborn space, The realm of enlightenment is the emptiness that suppresses phenomena. The realm of enlightenment is the self-awareness that suppresses emptiness. Awareness, liberated from the four extremes, is the nature of space, And all the phenomena that arise from it are like illusions and water moons, transcending existence and non-existence. Therefore, the great space of reality is shown as the pure nature. As it says in Self-Arisen Awareness: Like illusions, water moons, and mirages, Non-existence is not substantial, Nor is existence real. Because it transcends both existence and non-existence, The essence of awareness is unborn. The nature of appearance is unceasing. The characteristic of awareness is without phenomena. The fruit of awareness is unconditioned. Awareness is said to be the essence of the three kayas. Now, the meaning of these is gathered into the great, vast space: In Bodhicitta, appearance and emptiness are primordially non-existent. Non-dual, unattached, inconceivable magic arises. The three times, timeless, unborn realm of reality, Immutable, indivisible, uncompounded space. The three times, Buddhas, awareness, the realm of wisdom, The grasping and the grasped suppressed, self-awareness, the realm of enlightenment. Without outer and inner, the nature of reality is spontaneously vast. The essence of awareness is not established as appearance and emptiness, and the realm of the three times is equal, uncompounded. Awareness is the Buddha of the three times, primordially dawning, therefore it is the Dharmakaya without grasping. As it says in Self-Arisen: That too is an unchanging characteristic. Not different, but one alone. Even before the Buddhas, I arose. There is no dharma of delusion of grasping and grasped. And as it says in Perfected Strength: The self of non-dual awareness
