May the goodness of this life and the next flow from a hundred sources, May joy and happiness lead to ever greater bliss. These words, spoken in accordance with the times, Are drawn from the depths of my heart, with fervent love. They are but a glimpse of the current way of doing things, Offered as an ornament for the ears of young nobles. I am a humble one, tormented by the decline of the times, If not suddenly changed by unforeseen circumstances, I hope to meet again and speak of Dharma. In the meantime, please keep my words of advice in mind. Like a string of golden mountains, the great beings of the past, Each succeeding one placing their feet upon the throne. Filled to overflowing with the glory of goodness, Like the aftermath of a joyous celebration today. Closely wrapped in the net of karmic ripening, Unsure where the winds of karma will carry us. Struck by the pain of longing in my heart, I send this teaching from a distant land. Though my words are clumsy and lack eloquence, I cannot help but offer this encouragement. Though my understanding of Dharma is shallow, I can only proclaim these dry words of Dharma. May this also cause the minds of the new generation of young nobles, To increase their faith in the true Dharma. May they be able to make contributions to the benefit of the teachings and all beings, Through virtuous and excellent deeds. Written by Mati at Jayantu. May the wisdom that knows all things increase, May you hold the treasury of profound compassion in your heart. May the unequaled teacher, who has the power to guide countless beings, Bestow blessings. His teachings are the foundation of all goodness, The great source of a billion wonderful qualities. The medicine that destroys all faults, This is the cause of happiness for all beings. The roots of the world cannot do what he does, He places us on the true path to liberation. Through the kindness of the holy guru, I met the Dharma, And my mind turned towards the Dharma. Without thinking that youth is fleeting, I have restrained myself with mindful discipline. If I do not familiarize this mind with the Dharma, I do not know how this life will end. Now I am attending this supreme gathering, Before my body and mind are defiled by faults, Adorned with the pure ornament of discipline, Rely on virtuous Dharma friends, Establish a foundation of pure and proper conduct, and look to the deeds of the excellent ones of the past. This is the time to strive to become a monk or nun who is peaceful and gentle in body, speech, and mind.

From this time of youth and vigor, If you do not strive for the sacred Dharma, And remain in a state of laziness and indolence, Even if you later wish to accomplish your own benefit, Your senses and strength will gradually diminish. The wild mind of past habits will never be tamed. The eye of Dharma will never awaken, Your mindstream will be corrupted by the faults of afflictions, And when death arrives, you will regret it. Therefore, now, in this time of youth, Carry the kindness of the guru on your head. Keep the kindness of your present parents in your heart. Together with friends who uphold pure vows, Reside in a place away from distractions, Turn your mind towards the Dharma, Take the essence of this leisure and opportunity, Fear the nature of impermanence and death, Do not have time to sit idly without purpose, With mindfulness, awareness, caution, and shame, Constantly restrain your three doors of action, Approach the state of peace and tranquility, Recognize all beings equal to space as your parents, And wish for them to always have happiness and virtue, And wish for them to be free from suffering and its causes. Based on this, for the sake of others, for enlightenment, Generate the supreme intention to seek the state of Buddhahood. Cultivate this intention in your mind with respect, constancy, and diligence. Especially, the nature of mind is free from elaboration and non-conceptual, It is clear and empty, unobstructed, the radiant energy of awareness is unchanging. The nature of mind is unconditioned, naturally luminous. Abide as it is, in the original, natural state, In self-arising, uncontrived meditation. Relying on the sacred instructions of the guru, With skillful means, on your own mindstream, From hundreds of methods that strike the key point, Strive with whatever skill you have, May you see the very nature of the luminous mind. When that happens, your own benefit will be accomplished. Keep these meanings in mind, Do not be satisfied with mere appearances. See if you can make the inside and outside consistent. If you think of your own benefit, you should do this. If you have this thought in your mind, your own benefit will be called forth. These words are given as advice. If you want to take advice, you should do this. These are truthful words spoken from a sincere heart. This is just a small monk's aspiration. Written by the ignorant monk Mati Kirti, May this also turn the minds of young monks, From the depths of their hearts, towards the true Dharma! Yeshe Tsogyal's (藏语:ཡེ་ཤེས་མཚོ་རྒྱལ།,Wisdom Lake Queen) form embodies all refuges. I respectfully pray to the root guru, inseparable from Yeshe Tsogyal. Please quickly bestow your compassionate blessings. May all my aspirations be fulfilled in accordance with the Dharma. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
