Nowhere to go. No matter how taught, beneficial opportunities are rare. Even if listened to in this way, there is no good Dharma. Even if getting along like friends, eventually there will be separation. Therefore, regarding retinues, friends, and relatives, Completely abandoning close relationships, In order to practice the sacred Dharma alone in solitude, From today onwards, effort must be made. The noble beings of the past also said: From solitude, nectar was attained. Therefore, I too, in order to practice peace, Shall dwell alone in the solitude of the forest. The place of solitude is praised by the Buddhas, Deep samadhi increases in the absence of unruly people. Dharma is naturally accomplished, and a sense of impermanence and sorrow arises, Possessions are economized, and there is no commotion or distraction. Faith, renunciation, and qualities gather in abundance, Without relationships, naturally there are few affairs. There is no need to read faces or be diplomatic, Freedom and ease are enjoyed, days and nights are spent with Dharma. Leisure and opportunity are meaningful, practice is made the essence. These qualities and others are too numerous to mention, Therefore, in the extremely secluded forest, I shall practice profound samadhi for the rest of my life. As such, the rain of the well-spoken Dharma falls, The thoughts of afflictive suffering are completely pacified, The lotus lake of samadhi and virtue is completely filled, May the wealth of the place of peace greatly increase! Four Dharmas From the Precious Garland, the chapter on transforming the mind into Dharma is the first. Thus, for the supreme and pure Dharma, Those who enter with faith and desire liberation, In order to tame their own minds, They highly value the Dharma becoming the path. Having entered the teachings of the Victorious Ones in this way, Those who set out to listen, contemplate, and meditate, Some do not pacify their own bad habits, Some enter wrong paths, inferior paths, and stray paths, Great desire, attachment, indulgence in this life, and so on, All these faults that contradict the Dharma, Arise from the Dharma not becoming the path. From this, immeasurable faults arise in this life and the next, Deceived by delusion, one regrets at the time of death, Fear and dread in the bardo, and falling into the lower realms in the future, There is no opportunity to escape from samsara forever. Therefore, the Dharma must become the path. Just as an impure person uses medicine to cure a disease, Even if cleansing medicine is used, if one remains impure, Being thoroughly tormented, one suffers even more, It has not become an antidote.
