It is like this. Firstly, one who is skilled in both internal and external Dharma and tenets, especially possessing the understanding of Ati, and is skilled in guiding disciples' minds to realize the essence of meaning, is a true teacher. One who is not tainted by worldly affairs and conceptual appearances should be relied upon, and one should please that noble lama with all possessions. The twenty-seventh chapter of the Root Tantra says: Therefore, like gold coated with black lacquer, such a teacher is a true teacher, a treasure of jewels. Because its value is immeasurable, it is worthy of offering one's life. Furthermore, if one is ignorant of the tenets of oneself and others and the meaning of the Dharma, attached to objects and appearances, fond of noise and distraction, breaking vows and commitments, leading the faithless and unguided onto the wrong path, and seeking gain through the Dharma, then one has turned away from the meaning of Ati. Even if one only verbally teaches the Dharma to others, one has no chance of realizing it oneself, so one should abandon such monkey-like play. As it is said in the chapter of Pure Realm: With the deception of children, one is led onto the wrong path of conceptualization. There is no time for liberation, and no time for realization. How can one obtain Dharma by seeking Dharma? A teacher who is not a valid authority, like the teachings of a monkey, if relied upon, one will lose the right path and be bound by conceptual thoughts. So it is said. Secondly, the nature of the disciple who is the object of reliance is, in general, one who possesses faith and commitment, is patient and has great compassion, is steadfast in faith and generous. The eighty-third chapter of the Later Later Tantra says: The root of all, the essence of the awakened mind that transcends all, this is the teaching that reveals the meaning of realization. One who has great faith and commitment, great diligence, great compassion, patience, and no weariness or turning back, who is not attached to body, children, wife, servants, or wealth, and offers with faith and joy. These are the signs of faith and commitment, therefore, this tantra should be given to one who possesses the essence of meaning. So it is said. In particular, the vessel for fully bestowing the words and meanings of this is: one who has no pride or arrogance, therefore respects the lama; one who does not transgress the teachings, therefore acts as instructed; one who does not spare body or life, therefore serves the lama; one who is able to abandon this life and accomplish the vows; from now until

During one's lifetime, if one can vow to practice according to the guru's teachings and not violate the vows, then empowerment is given. As it says: Abandoning fame and being free from arrogance, not sparing body and life for the sake of the essential meaning. To those who do not transgress the teachings and possess the signs, give the essential meaning and the unborn teachings. After one obtains the essential teachings, what do worldly names mean to me? If obtained, I will practice according to the teachings. If one can abide in the vows, then give these teachings. As long as the master and I are alive, before the separation of body and life, vow to practice according to your teachings, and give the essence of the teachings, the Kunjed Gyalpo (All-Creating King). Thus it is said. He (the practitioner) also, being without attachment, offers all his wealth to the guru. The guru, in order to perfect his accumulation of merit, accepts even if he does not need it, and offers it to the Three Jewels. As it says: In short, even body and life should be offered, not to mention wealth, fields, and estates. Even if I do not need it, the holy one should accept it and offer it to the Three Jewels. Thus it is said. Third, the order of the precepts to be received is threefold: the order of lineage that is believed and authentic; the precepts that arise from it, which are real, secret, and sealed with empowerment. First, from the third chapter of the Root Tantra: O Great Bodhisattva, listen! The necessity of the meaning of history is explained as follows: First, to show the source of the arising of faith. The way of explaining the meaning of history is: the way of explaining the blessing of nature; the way of explaining one's own nature; and the way of combining the syllables of meaning. Thus it is said. First, in the realm of Dharma, in the space free from all elaborations, in the great Ogmin (Akanishta) pure land of true meaning, the Bhagavan Kunjed Gyalpo (All-Creating King) arose from the Dharma nature of meaning, and in the great immeasurable palace of stacked Ogmin houses, he taught the five Buddha families and the Vajrasattva, who manifested from the self-born wisdom of his own mind, with blessings. He appeared in the complete enjoyment body and spoke to Garab Dorje, the manifested body, with his own nature. He taught the great master Manjushrimitra in a way that combines syllables and words skillfully.
