Third, the branch of realizing non-duality as essence is: In the state of great perfection where all things are equal, do not accept or reject, abandon attachment and aims. All clinging and attachment are the activities of existence. Without aims, there is no bondage or liberation, like the sky. Thus, the essence of nature is beyond effort, practice, acceptance, and rejection, like the sky. Understanding its meaning is seeing, not straying from its state is meditation. Therefore, knowing that meditation is also beyond existence and non-existence, acceptance and rejection, hope and fear. If you think that meditating on this samadhi will bring stability and improvement, what need is there to mention anything else? As it says in the Kunje Gyalpo Tantra: "Desiring happiness is the disease of attachment, without desire, one takes happiness. Buddhahood is not achieved by practice, without seeking, the inherent nature abides, spontaneously accomplished. Without seeking, let non-thought abide in the inherent nature." And: "O great Bodhisattva, if you wish to accomplish your own mind, it is accomplished by having no desire. Do not abide in non-conceptual equality. In a place without acceptance or rejection, the inherent nature abides. In a state without movement, abide naturally. The mind is the essence of suchness, all phenomena are accomplished in suchness. Do not fabricate suchness. Do not practice other than the essence. If you seek, the Victorious Ones will not find it in the realm of reality. What was done before is finished, so there is no need to do it now. What was accomplished before is finished, so there is no need to practice it now. Do not think of anything, do not contemplate anything, abide in equality." So it is. If there is clinging and attachment, one will not be liberated from existence. As it says in the Song of the Inexhaustible Treasury of Instructions: "If the mind of the yogi is intoxicated by the poison of hope and fear, the co-emergent wisdom will be bound in that place." So it is. Without aims, one transcends bondage and liberation. As it says in the same text: "The ultimate of no hope and no fear is the Vajra Mind. Even if one goes to hell, there is no suffering there. Even if one abides in the supreme fruit, there is no additional gain. Happiness and suffering themselves abandon benefit and harm. Good and bad actions have no increase or decrease for it. Other than this two-free wisdom of realization, if you desire a greater Buddhahood, know that it is ignorance." So it is. The meaning of these is shown by examples: Such a nature of reality is beyond acceptance and rejection.

Explanation of the Increase of Self-Nature: For example, just as various images appear in a mirror, similarly, various dharmas exist within emptiness. Just as images are not separate from the surface of the mirror, so too should one understand that all dharmas exist within emptiness. As stated in the "Heap of Jewels Sutra": "As a mirror is pure and clear, the nature of images appears; all dharmas are unborn; contemplate the true image." Explanation of Affirmation and Negation through Example: Again, just as various clouds exist within the sky, similarly, various affirmations and negations exist within the nature of mind. Just as clouds that gather and dissipate in an instant do not move from the nature of the sky, so too, whatever affirmations and negations arise in the mind, they do not move from the nature of mind. As stated in the "Golden Garland of Instructions": "All clouds are within the sky; the mind's thoughts are within the nature of reality." Explanation of Experience and Realization through Example: Again, just as various rivers exist within the ocean, similarly, various experiences and realizations exist within meditation. Just as the taste of water becomes one in the ocean, so too the taste of experiences and realizations becomes one in meditation. As stated in the same text: "In the ocean of precious qualities, all the waters of various experiences flow, remaining naturally unmoving; the stable mind is the special wish-fulfilling one." Explanation of Samsara and Nirvana through Example: Again, just as various illusions exist within manifestation, similarly, various samsara and nirvana exist within the nature of reality. Just as all illusions are without inherent existence from the moment they appear, so too should one understand that samsara and nirvana do not move from the nature of reality. As stated in the "Sutra Requested by Bhadra": "All dharmas are taught to be of the nature of illusion, empty of essence." And as stated in the Dohā: "What is samsara? What is nirvana?" Explanation of Mind and Mind-Nature: Again, just as the sky of the ten directions is without a basis, similarly, one views all dharmas in original liberation. Just as water placed in water is non-dual, similarly, mind and mind-nature are without separation. Just as the expanse of the sky has no different nature, so too all dharmas have no dual nature. As stated in the "All-Creating King Tantra": "Just as the sky is without division, so too are all dharmas without division." Just as water and water mixed together are not two, so too, in the state of mind-nature, the thoughts arising from mind naturally subside and dissolve, therefore there is no duality.
