As for the place, what need is there to say that attachment will arise towards worldly happiness and one's own life? Thus it is said. Not desiring one's own happiness is, it is said therein: Who can become happy without generating happiness for those who suffer from suffering through compassion? Therefore, those who possess love generate the happiness of others, and then they themselves become happy. Thus it is said. Overpowering the happiness of others is, it is said therein: The suffering born of love will overpower all the happiness of the world, and those who have accomplished things, who do not possess it, what could be more wonderful than that? Thus it is said. In the "Letter of Instruction" it says: Beings are helplessly and without refuge controlled by many unbearable sufferings here. For the sake of others, that suffering is said to be happiness by the supreme beings. In an instant, one's own actions of separating others from hunger, thirst, and heat, what joy is there that can compare to that? Whatever joy is found by striving to generate the happiness of benefiting others, those who are devoted to enjoying worldly pleasures, in whatever way, cannot attain it with youthful pleasures, nor with the wealth and possessions of kings. Not by wives, not by others, not by gods in the heavens, not by asuras, not by beings. Thus it is said. The cause of not being weary of samsara is, it is said earlier: Compassion is the supreme wisdom that binds one to samsara, and having fully understood the nature of suffering, all and non-self, one will not become weary, nor will one be greatly harmed by faults. Thus it is said. The immeasurable quality of such a noble being who possesses such meaning is that it transcends the world and is without fault, it is said therein: Attachment, which is without fault, does not exist and transcends the world. The love born of compassion by those with wisdom is without fault and transcends the world. Thus it is said, love for parents and children is attachment, but the attachment of a bodhisattva for sentient beings is not like that, because it is for the sake of liberation from samsara. Being without fault is, because it is for the sake of liberating suffering sentient beings from samsara, it is said therein: What is the method of guiding the world that relies on the great power of suffering and the great darkness of ignorance, how could it not be without fault? Thus it is said. It transcends the world, because it is love and so on that even shravakas and pratyekabuddhas do not have, it is said therein:

If even the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas of the world, do not have that love, then what need is there to speak of others? How could they not be beyond the world? Thus it is said. If the four immeasurables are not cultivated, there will be many faults. As it says in the same text: Bodhisattvas with harmful thoughts, and various kinds of harm, displeasure, and harmful thoughts, and those who possess desire, will encounter many kinds of faults. Thus it is said. Among them, attachment to being born in the desire realm is called desire realm attachment, and attachment to being born in the upper two realms is called existence realm attachment. As it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: Attachment to existence arises from the two realms. Thus it is said. The fault of increasing afflictions is immeasurable. As it says in the previous text: Afflictions destroy self, destroy sentient beings, and destroy morality. Those with degeneration are inferior due to gain, and are blamed by protectors and teachers alike. Full of disputes, with a bad reputation, they are born in places where there is no leisure. Due to loss of what has been gained and what has not been gained, the mind experiences great suffering. Thus it is said. This refers to degenerating from the happiness of what has been gained and the future happiness of what has not been gained. The benefit of cultivating the four immeasurables is: Like this, there is no fault of sons, and although one holds onto samsara for the sake of sentient beings, suffering does not arise because it is not an afflicted samsara. As it says in the same text: All these faults do not arise when love and so forth are well established. Not being afflicted, for the sake of sentient beings, one does not completely abandon samsara. Thus it is said. Praise of Qualities: In this way, love and other qualities are limitless, incomparable, and highly praised by the teacher of gods and humans. As it is said in the Garland of Glory Sutra: Whoever cultivates the four immeasurables is known by all the Sugatas. All qualities are immeasurable, surpassing the path of the sky. Thus it is said. Showing that the Four Immeasurables are the Footprints of the Conquerors: The four immeasurables, those are not true paths, they are reversed. Taking refuge in other teachers is a bad path. The path held by this is liberation without stain. It is the footprint of the conquerors of the three times, past and future. As it is said in the Upper Commentary on the Ground: These four immeasurables are the path to liberation, otherwise it is a wrong path. Thus it is said. Showing how to Obtain the Two Noble Ones: Like this, if you want to generate the two bodies of means and wisdom through the vehicle of cause, like seeds and sprouts
