Possessing the intention of being free from attachment. Possessing the intention of not being separate. I prostrate to you who intend benefit and happiness. So it is. The necessity of prostrating in this way is the great benefit that is obtained by oneself, others, and both. For a while, if one praises the supreme state attained by oneself with the good fortune of words and meaning, one realizes oneself as a holy being and enters into the conduct of a holy being. There is a need for the completion of the composition. The Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses says: Those who cherish the welfare of others, even for the sake of their lives, do not slacken their own abilities. The noble being carries a heavy burden. They never abandon it in a place of danger. So it is. The necessity of what is obtained by others is also to respect the teacher and the scriptures as supreme, having recognized them. Nagarjuna says: By making scriptures, offering praise to the teacher is not without fruit. It is for the sake of generating faith and desire in the teacher and the scriptures. So he said. The necessity of what is obtained by both is that the meaning of the aspiration is accomplished by completing the accumulation of merit. The Sutra of Extensive Play says: The thoughts of people who have merit are also accomplished. So it is. In the Sutra of Many Buddhas: Whoever does a small deed for the victorious guide, those various heavens will pass through and attain enlightenment. So he said. The second is: What should be done after prostrating in this way? The luminous Dharmakaya, the stainless realm of the Victorious One. Wandering in this existence due to ignorance and clinging. In the midst of the desert of experiencing karma and afflictions. Let the weary mind rest today. So it is. The nature of the mind is inherently luminous, the essence of the Buddha's realm, beyond the four extremes of existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation. It is inherently pervasive to all sentient beings. The Uttaratantra says: Because the nature of the mind is luminous, seeing that afflictions have no essence. Those who realize that all beings are without self, having truly understood the four extremes, in all. The perfect Buddha follows, possessing unobstructed intelligence. Homage to the pure, infinite realm of sentient beings, possessing the wisdom vision. So he said. Thus, although the wisdom that is pure from the beginning is present in oneself, one wanders in this existence due to not knowing it. The karma of ignorance clinging to self, and the desire generated by it.

I, with hatred, ignorance, pride, and jealousy, revolve in this existence due to the afflictions of the five poisons. How so? By placing various imprints on the alaya consciousness, one is born as an animal due to small non-virtuous deeds and ignorance, as a hungry ghost due to medium deeds and desire, and as a hell being due to great deeds and hatred. One is born as a god or human due to virtuous deeds and merit that are in accordance with pride, and as an asura due to virtuous deeds that are in accordance with jealousy. Each experiences their own realms, happiness, suffering, intermediate states, virtuous deeds, and non-virtuous deeds. In this beginningless and endless wilderness of existence, difficult to traverse, one wanders without freedom, grasping at meaningless things as "I" and "mine," like appearances in a dream. If examined well, there is nothing, but in the self-nature of delusion, it appears as if it were truly established. As it says in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "The beings of existence move like a dream; here, no one is born, and no one dies." And as it says in the Brahma-pariprccha Sutra: "Beings who appear like dreams are bound separately by their own actions, wandering in the cycle of various happiness and suffering. Their nature is selfless, which is suchness, but the ignorant children grasp at 'I' and 'mine,' and the pain of existence will rise again and again." Thus, the beings of existence are bound by various bonds, and although all dharmas are selfless, they grasp at self. In order to open the eyes of liberation from these, it is necessary to teach the essence of the definitive meaning. Why? Because it is unreasonable to seek only peace by knowing one's own path. For all beings have wandered in this beginningless cycle, and there is no one who has not been a father or mother. It is improper to abandon them and seek liberation alone. As it says in the Suhrllekha: "Relatives are immersed in the ocean of samsara, appearing as if they have fallen into a chasm. Abandoning those whom you do not recognize because you are confused by birth, if you were to liberate yourself alone, there would be no greater shame than that. A child cannot do anything while being held in the lap, sucking the milk that flows with loving force. Those who rely on love, enduring much hardship...
