Just as entering a swept room, no matter when you enter, you enter in an instant without any deliberation. Similarly, the yogi also cuts off attachments through hearing and thinking. Secondly, like that example, first cutting off mental attachments through hearing and thinking, and then when meditating, because there is no doubt about that topic, you can meditate by hitting the point all at once . That is, first, through hearing and thinking, train the mind to understand the tenets of self-nature and the various classifications of vehicles, thereby cutting off all mental elaborations. Generally, whatever is to be practiced is sufficient through hearing, but for those who have awakened from past karma, and in the past when the gurus were all great accomplished ones during the Good Kalpa, because of their own karmic connections, the guru's compassion, and clairvoyance, they encounter the Dharma that is related to them, and they can be liberated by relying on that one Dharma alone. However, in this present age, good karmic connections are also rare, and even if one cuts off elaborations with one elaboration through numerous conceptualizations, it is only barely avoiding extremes, and most people must practice hearing and thinking without bias. Now is the time when this Nyingtik teaching is in its final stage, reaching the so-called "place of practice with faith." In particular, this Secret King is the pinnacle of all teachings, so unless one has extensive hearing and thinking, wisdom, and a supreme capacity, it is impossible to understand its meaning. Therefore, to enter this vehicle, one must rely on extensive hearing and thinking. As it says in the Ornament of Clear Realization: The categories of words and tenets, The nine stages are distinguished by the mind, Those who are far from the meaning of the present, Sentient beings to be tamed in the future, Sentient beings with coarse thoughts, They are not ripened because they act on words. At the end of this teaching, It is called the place of practice with faith. Transcending words and elaborations is completely great. This secret definitive tantra, Relies on the path of the present . The gathering of self-knowing awareness. All the Buddhas are one collected. The nature of self-knowing certainty, . Practice without mixing equality. That is the sequence of transcending words. So it is said. Then, some may think that this contradicts what is said that there is no distinction between sharpness and dullness of faculties. That is because of the awakening of past karma. If in this life one hears this Dharma from a qualified guru, one can cut off elaborations at the same time, and this is said for those who do not seek more profound Dharma than this, but concentrate their practice on Tögal. For ordinary people,

For those who are attached to elaborate words and, even having seen Thöd-gal (Thod rgal), lack definite understanding, elaborate teachings are necessary. To be liberated from that, one must cut through the doubts of many hearings, thus showing the importance of hearing and contemplation. In short, in this present time, uncommon faith arises in Thöd-gal. If there is not even a speck of clinging to that of Trekchö (Khregs chod), then one is a fortunate individual, and such people are not many. Merely with this faith, one can travel the path, and merely striving in practice is sufficient. If one does not possess such qualities and yet takes the name of a lama who shows others, then one must necessarily have extensive hearing and contemplation, because one must know that one's own and others' paths are without error. Especially as a teacher, one must not err on the path, because if one errs, then everything that one teaches will go astray, so first it is important to value extensive hearing and contemplation. In this way, having cut through the doubts of the knowable with external hearing and contemplation, internally, through meditation, abide in the state of dharmata, and having nakedly displayed the self-awareness of the secret space-wisdom, one should always strive to become accustomed to directly seeing the dharmakaya. As it says in the "Union of Sun and Moon Sutra": Who sees the lamp of space? Manifestly acts in the realm of dharma. Who sees the lamp of bindu? Obtains the hope of those who strive. Who sees the lamp of wisdom? Understands the characteristics of common and self. Who sees the lamp of water? Obtains the power to control the senses. Who is accustomed to the lineage of channels? The various awarenesses are placed on the scale. Its fruit is the three kayas. These themselves are self-awareness. Abiding in the nature of the bardo. The person who is accustomed to these. All the elements are self-liberated. There is no doubt about this transformation. Thus it is said. The second meaning is that for the unclear aspects of the dying bardo, to make them clear, like the instruction of a beautiful woman looking in a mirror, there are two parts: the common general nature, and the special superior distinctions. The first part has seven points: the reasons for being certain of death, the method of examining death, the method of averting it, the appearances at the time of death, the yogi's instructions The signs of birth of ordinary beings in the six realms, and the ritual for purifying them. The first point is that from the moment of birth, one is destined to die, therefore one must focus solely on the excellent Dharma. As it says in the "Heap of Jewels Sutra": The life of a stable person, has no fixed time, alas alas, the six aggregates of objects,
