When liberation is known, other instructions and heart advice are not ultimately existent, but are falsely claimed to exist in relative truth. In contemplation, the mind has two ways of functioning. Although they differ only in self-liberation, self-arising, and self-abiding, the emphasis is different. Here, it is completely non-existent, while elsewhere it is believed that things that exist are non-existent. Regarding union, elsewhere it is believed that two things that exist are interconnected as union, but here, because it is completely non-existent, there is nothing to unite. The essence of non-existence has no difference, and the two are undifferentiated, therefore it is called non-dual union. This key point is the most supreme key point of all vehicles, both important and crucial. Because from here, it is not believed that appearances are mind, but the mind that has never existed is shown as the great primordial Buddha. Relying on this, appearances are recognized as mind, and the instruction that the nature of mind is recognized as emptiness, know that this is the intent of the heart essence. Such a thing may occur in some instructions, but it can be determined that this is only to guide beginners, and is not the ultimate meaning. Third, the appearance of objects arises in the mirror of wisdom, and the six consciousnesses are widely spread as great equality. All external appearances, internal sudden thoughts and discriminations, the six senses and their objects, are only bright appearances without substance. In reality, they do not exist either internally or externally, like hairs seen by someone with eye disease, illusions, magic, and emanations. Although they appear in the mind, know that at the moment of appearance they transcend the limits of existence and non-existence. From the perspective of appearance, no matter how it is named, it is not contradictory. It can be, it cannot be; it can exist, it cannot exist; it can appear, it can be empty; it can be delusion, it can be liberation; it can be good, it can be bad; it can be mind, it can be other. No matter how it is named, from the perspective of emptiness, no matter how it is named, it is initially empty in itself. Naming is mind, and mind is non-existent. Because it is non-existent, there is no namer, just like the actions in a dream and the actions of magic. Appearances and arisings, good and bad, etc., are all sudden. Their essence is rootless and self-liberated. Because the primordial radiance of awareness exists in a part, if it can be recognized, there will be no deviation from the intent of the nature of reality. All phenomena of appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana, in the state of awareness, arise and appear spontaneously as bright appearances without substance, just as the appearances of the four elements abide in space, or like a dream.

Like various kinds of sleep, and not stirring from the state of sleep awareness. Everything is self-appearing on the face of awareness, yet awareness does not see the illusion of samsara, nor does it see the pure nirvana, and samsara and nirvana do not see awareness. Everything is unmoved in the state of groundless, great equality, because it is not established in essence, it transcends seeing and the seer. Arising from the state of awareness, samsara and nirvana are merely labeled as the self-display or play of awareness. It is the great liberation that transcends the extremes of existence and non-existence, the labels are not contradictory, but in reality it is not established. In non-existence, the phenomena of existence, samsara and nirvana, appear as mere clear appearances. In the Klong Drugpa it says: "In the stainless mind itself, the appearance free from object conditions, is the realization of the great self-purity, I, Kuntuzangpo, have taught." Also, as it says in the Ornament of Jewels: "The entity that is nothing at all, does not fall to any side. The entity that is illusory in any way, merely appears as a similar appearance. However, its meaning does not arise, it appears like the ornament of the dharmadhatu." It also says: "The great wisdom of emptiness, from nothing at all, appears in any way." Also, as it says in the Garland of Pearls: "That is me, is the goer, is the mind, is what arises from the mind. Is many, and is one. Samsara and nirvana are myself. Mandala and so on, gradual entry is me. Is dharma, is what appears as dharma. Is the abiding, and is the going. Is sitting and lying and forming. Is life, and is also the cutting itself. The three worlds are born from that. In short, whatever appears, all dharmas arise from that. Earth, water, fire, wind, and space, the great elements arise from that." From then on it says: "In the nature of things that abides thus, there is no illusion from the beginning. The dharmakaya is like the sky, suddenly obscured by the clouds of sentient beings. Even the nature of things that abides without illusion, appears in the mind as an illusion." From then on it says: "The five afflictions of sentient beings, in reality do not exist. Like clouds in the sky, they are temporary and conditioned. The clouds arise from the sky itself, likewise knowing that they dissolve into the sky, it is called the state of undifferentiated oneness. Likewise, knowing that the defilements of afflictions are self-arisen and self-pacified, how can sentient beings be bound?" It also says: "The way things appear is not established, although it appears as grasping, but in reality it does not grasp at anything.
