Ignorance, like the ignorance of clinging to phenomena as self, just as selflessness is the nature of awareness, such as the ignorance of "my home." Like treating the path as a modification. Like an antidote turning into poison, not granting liberation, is ignorance. Because the meaning of self-luminous nature is not understood, there is always confusion in samsara. Second, the divisions of mind arising from that are, from Rangshar: The divisions of mind are as follows, the divisions of mind are as follows: The mind that gathers various things, like water; the mind without clean or unclean, like a pig; the mind that is brave and strong, like a tiger; the mind that is light, like a feather; the mind that moves, like the wind; the mind that is extremely intoxicated, like a swamp; the mind that spreads, like a spark; the mind that desires, like a bird; the mind that expands, like a branch; the mind that is difficult to stop, like a dancer; the mind without control, like a madman, there are eleven in total. These also, in order, are like water because they gather various objects and imprints; like a pig because of ignorance about what to accept and reject; like a tiger because of coarse hatred and pride; like a bird's feather because it engages in multiple objects but is not fixed on one goal; like the wind because there is no obstruction to movement; like a swamp because it is intoxicated by craving for objects; like a spark because conceptual thoughts spread from one to many; like a bird because it desires to accept objects; like a branch because the ability of knowledge expands and analyzes meaning; like a dancer because the object seizes awareness and is controlled by it; like the mind of a madman because the knowledge of the wavering object floats without control. These are also gathered into the three minds of virtue, non-virtue, and neutrality due to objects and conditions. From mind arises intention, that is, the six intentions such as always seeking. Third, the divisions of afflictions arising from that are three: six root afflictions, sixteen secondary afflictions, and subtle, expansive, clear, and limitless afflictions. The first is from "Sun and Moon Union": Afflictions are six, namely ignorance, which refers to clinging to the part of the basis of delusion and conceptualization. Delusion is delusion from the part of wisdom. Hatred is delusion from the generation stage. Pride is delusion from the part of view. Desire is delusion from the part of appearance. Jealousy is delusion from the part of non-realization.

Furthermore, in sequence, there are the obscurations of delusional thoughts regarding objects and subjects, the lack of understanding that deviates slightly from wisdom and awareness, the aspect of hatred towards objects, the arrogance of thinking "I am," the craving for objects, and the anger towards others due to not understanding the meaning. Secondly, the sixteen secondary defilements are: From Rangshar: What are the sixteen? Ignorance, mind, intellect, grasping, conceptualization, not knowing, not seeing, not understanding, not comprehending, one's own incorrectness, grasping at "I," being stingy towards others, desire, attachment, arrogance, and anger, these are the sixteen. These also, in sequence, are: being completely defiled by the obscuration of not knowing suchness, holding the mind to objects, the intellect grasping at subjects, grasping at both as self, completely conceptualizing, not understanding the meaning, not seeing the reality to be sought, not understanding the meaning of words, not comprehending the general characteristics, recognizing the error and the form of the previous meaning of the commitment being mistaken, grasping the object as "I," disliking the perfection of others, accepting the object, being particularly attached to the object, being slightly conceited and arrogant, and being angry at the object. Thirdly, there are three types of subtle, increasing, clear, and limitless defilements: twenty-five, fifty-one, and eighty-four thousand. The first is that since the root ignorance is pervasive, it is not counted separately, but the five poisons that are pervaded are each divided into five, so there are twenty-five. From Rangshar: There are five types of delusion: extremely obscured delusion, unknowing delusion, unseeing delusion, extremely dull delusion, and extremely intoxicated delusion, these five. There are also five types of desire: desire that craves for desire, extremely painful desire, desire that disregards life, desire that is accompanied by hatred, and desire that travels in space, these five. There are also five types of hatred: hatred with strong desire, hatred accompanied by anger, extremely coarse hatred, hatred accompanied by delusion, and hatred like a seasonal dragon rain, these five. There are also five types of pride: pride that overwhelms with power like a lion
