Meditate until the next thought is not yet born. When it arises, strike it with PHAṬ (藏文:ཕཊ,梵文天城体:फट,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪) as before and practice, and the wisdom free from elaboration will arise. To hold the mind with the laughter of the wrathful deity: Again, relax as before, and when conceptual thoughts, happiness and suffering, affirmation and negation arise, say "Haha" forcefully and briefly, combining it with the breath, and meditate in this state. Sometimes, with intonation, it can dispel unpleasant feelings and harmonize the breath and elements. The self-born wisdom of Dharma-nature will arise. To hold the mind with the Asura's contention: On a high place such as a mountaintop, relax the body and mind as before, and for three days, slowly wrap the head and body. Then, wrap it tightly with all your strength. Focus the mind on the red RAṂ (藏文:རཾ,梵文天城体:रं,梵文罗马拟音:raṃ,汉语字面意思:让) at the navel. Hold the breath inside. By relying on auspicious food for the breath, external appearances will naturally cease, and you will experience a state where nothing is established as its essence. Emptiness, free from thought, will arise. To hold the mind with the desire for conceptual thought with HŪṂ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽): Relax the body and mind as before, and when the breath goes out, visualize many HŪṂs (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) going out; when the breath comes in, visualize them coming in. Inhale with a long HŪṂ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) with intonation, and when conceptual thoughts arise, occasionally say a short and forceful HŪṂ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) and practice. When the mind is stable, recite without thinking of HŪṂ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), and conceptual thoughts will naturally subside, and the wisdom of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality will arise in three days. To hold the mind with the gradual arising of emptiness: Relax the body and mind as before, and search with the mind in the outer, inner, and intermediate spaces of the object to be grasped, the mind that grasps, and the names that are assigned, but you will not find them, and the Dharma-nature will arise from within. That is, break down the five coarsely appearing objects and the body into atoms, and if you cannot find them by examining and analyzing them, then the object to be grasped is without inherent existence. If you cannot find the essence of this mind by searching for it in the outer, inner, and intermediate spaces, then the grasper is without inherent existence. The names assigned to self, other, mountain, pillar, vase, etc., if you cannot find them by breaking them down into atoms and searching in the outer, inner, and intermediate spaces of those objects, then all phenomena, such as grasper and grasped, samsara and nirvana, are merely names, temporarily assigned, and understood only as conventional truths. Therefore, it is necessary to understand that their nature is emptiness. Remaining in that state is Dharma.

Itself naturally abides in the inconceivable emptiness. To focus the mind on emptiness as a single point, whatever appears, contemplate it as appearance being emptiness, and repeatedly meditate on it. Whatever arises, whether it be sound, smell, taste, touch, or thoughts, contemplate it as emptiness in that very instant, and repeatedly meditate on it. In this way, everything will vanish without a trace, and all appearances and mind will arise simultaneously with emptiness, like breathing on a mirror. Even gross objects will not become empty, as that is impossible. Therefore, everything such as earth, water, fire, and wind will be like the moon in water, appearing but not truly existing. Even mountains and rocks can be passed through without obstruction. When samadhi and clairvoyance are accomplished in the mind, the body can also fly in the sky and accomplish various miracles. The bodhisattva's samadhi is when the meaning of the union of calm abiding and insight arises in the continuum. As long as one remains in samadhi, one remains in that state, free from sinking and excitement. From these samadhis, the higher qualities of the ten bhumis of bodhisattvas arise, hence it is called the bodhisattva's samadhi. The intention of the Sugata (bde bar gshegs pa) is to abide constantly in samadhi, like a flowing river, without dependence on time. Therefore, one has mastery over the Buddha's eye, clairvoyance, and great miracles, and the defilements of afflictions are naturally purified and naturally liberated. Because the wisdom of the Buddha is accomplished, it is called the intention of the Sugata. Thus, these three aspects are also given three different names for the three stages of a beginner, one who has been completely tamed, and one who has become accustomed to it. In all these meditations, in order to keep the eyes straight, it is called the "meditation of the ocean of calm abiding." That is, from the beginning of meditation, the eyes should not be closed, that is the key. Just as images appear in clear water, the Buddha's eye and clairvoyance also arise from the state of clear awareness. This is accomplished by not obstructing the senses and keeping them naturally clear. The most important thing is to keep the eyes clear, because the root of clear awareness lies in this, it is the gateway to true wisdom. Furthermore, just as images appear but do not stain the water, all external appearances appear clearly and vividly, but awareness is not lost in appearances, therefore it is called "not established in awareness." From this meaning, the difference in actions is also explained: gathering the mind from all things, the inner nature is unwavering.
