Is. The Lama said: Nothing whatsoever has inherent existence. It is invisible. It is without life. It is without essence. It is empty and void. It is without words. It is without letters. It is without sound. It is without names. It is inexpressible. Having said this, because this mind-essence has no inherent nature, it is without inherent existence; because it is unrecognizable, it is invisible; because it transcends existence and non-existence, it is without life; because it has no right or wrong, it is without essence; because it appears as non-existent and its essence is emptiness, it is empty and void; because it is not established anywhere, it is without words; because it is free from focus and thought, it is without letters; because it transcends speech, it is without sound; because it transcends speaking and thinking, it is without names; because it transcends the object of expression, it is inexpressible. This should be declared. Fourth, the empowerment of Samantabhadra, the spontaneously accomplished nature of reality, is: The Lama said: All dharmas are empty and without self, the mind of desire and attachment is completely mistaken. The nature of the Dharmadhatu is free from elaboration, following after signs and words is completely mistaken. The wisdom of the essence-meaning arises spontaneously, thinking that it arises from others and striving to accomplish it is completely mistaken. The mind-essence transcends the duality of birth and death, clinging to the two, birth and cessation, is completely mistaken. The result is self-perfected and free from aspirations, looking at the time with discriminating mind is completely mistaken. All happiness and suffering are the magical display of awareness, clinging to the two, acceptance and rejection, is completely mistaken. Samantabhadra abides in oneself, seeking the Yidam from elsewhere is completely mistaken. One's own nature is Buddha from the very beginning, clinging to the three lower realms is completely mistaken. Samsara and the lower realms appear as play, desiring a true Buddha is completely mistaken. The five poisons are not abandoned and are self-arisen and great, clinging to the afflictions as something to be abandoned is completely mistaken. The appearance of delusion arises spontaneously as the Dharmakaya, clinging to things as self is completely mistaken. The nine vehicles arise spontaneously in oneself, clinging to the tenets of each is completely mistaken. The meaning of these is: Alas! Fortunate ones, all dharmas included in appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana are empty and without self from the very beginning, therefore, recognize that they abide in the nature of non-acceptance and non-rejection. If you do not recognize this, and cling to self with attachment to persons and dharmas, then delusion will become your own nature because of the continuation of samsara. The external appearing things are earth, water, fire, and wind; the internal aggregates and elements
