That which is called "the appearance of the emptiness of the ground liberated into emptiness" refers to the emptiness of the object, with awareness arising clearly, clear emptiness being inseparable, and appearance being self-purifying, which is said to be the intention of union. Awareness, the Vajra Garland, is called the "king of luminous self-knowing," which has been present from the very beginning and is inseparable from the appearance of Buddhahood. There is no difference in the way it abides, but the way it appears is distinguished by the difference of continuity. This is called the transparent awareness in sensory manifestation, which can be experienced as awareness itself. If this is not experienced, there is no difference from views held by intellectual speculation, because it is not the domain of wisdom. If one examines correctly with wisdom, one will not find the depths of the aggregates, let alone awareness. If awareness is not determined by the senses, even if it is determined by wisdom, there is no difference from views of intellectual speculation, therefore it is not through wisdom. Here, if one does not exhaust the aggregates, the senses, and the elements, one cannot attain Buddhahood, and there is nothing separate to be exhausted in these. Therefore, this cannot be exhausted by wisdom. If the senses and awareness are not connected, one cannot exhaust them, because the senses can observe, therefore one can exhaust everything. Therefore, this is very profound, and it can be determined right now. Having determined it in this way, by practicing, signs will naturally arise even without expectation. At this time, the three key points of immovability are most important. When the body does not move, the eyes naturally settle; when the eyes do not move, awareness abides without separation from itself; when awareness does not move, it is nailed to appearance and does not move. Having remained in these three immovabilities, all objects are naturally purified in their own place, and appearance is sealed. Confusion returns to its own place, and this is called the experience of the meeting of mother and child luminosity. These are the true key instructions for seeing awareness. When the Vajra Garland is separated from the winds and the bindus ripen, it is called the yogi of fragmented appearances, because bindus and subtle bindus appear. This is called habituating to fragments. Having gained stability in this way, one should examine the appearance of awareness's own face, which is profound and vast.

One should become accustomed to the appearance of space. Now, this is the instruction for increasing experience from above and for looking at awareness itself. That is, when one knows the suchness of the eye above, one should know the essence and expanse of all dharmas. If the eye is not well, one should treat it with the essential points of the body in a way that is comfortable, using the instructions for healing. When the bindu appears as small as a bean and the light appears like a reflection in a mirror, if one thinks one has reached the limit and abandons practice, this appearance will reverse and become the stability of the second bardo. If awareness is not integrated there, one will not see from the self-existing form, so it is extremely important to cherish this without interruption. Having practiced in this way, one should not become arrogant and stop when some signs of the body appear. This too, because the appearance reverses, it is important to always practice. In this way, when signs of the body appear, one should bring ashes from a charnel ground and offer them to subordinates, and offer all possessions to the lama. The lama should ask about the experience and again make one familiar with it. In this way, the lama's instructions are not given all at once, but gradually combined with the student's experience of awareness and applied. In this way, by holding separate charnel grounds and comparing experiences and practicing at the appropriate times, the student and guru together will attain enlightenment at the same time. Furthermore, the light is like the appearance of a village, and the bindu is like an overturned bowl. Also, when there are no signs of wrinkles on the body and one is free from the perception of food and clothing, one should practice naked on a snowy mountain or by the sea. And, one should not be arrogant about all those subtle signs, but it is extremely important to practice as before. By doing so, the light will be like a country, and the bindu will become the appearance of five fives. At that time, signs of the mixing of speech and mind will arise: understanding dharmas that were previously unknown, and generating devotion to one's own lama, and so on. When these occur, one should call it the complete determination of speech, and it is extremely important to speak loudly about the Dharma alone. One should not be arrogant about all these signs either, but it is extremely important to practice as before. By doing so, the light will be like three thousand worlds, and the bindu will transform into a deity in each one, and at that time one's own body will become invisible.
