Just as the sun reaches the end of its northward journey, when it travels in the sky at eighty-five thousand yojanas, it touches the base of the root of Mount Meru's horn, and the sun descends eleven thousand from there, reaching the end of its southward journey, it is equal in measure to the majestic perfection of the intermediate terrace of Mount Sumeru, the Vajra Mountain. On this, many ancient and supreme holy beings have considered that from the point of seventy-five thousand, five horns with a measure of twenty-five thousand are placed in a rounded shape, which seems to be within the scope of temporary rough calculations, so it will not become a fault. Others, nowadays, like Mangpugpa Lhün Gyalwa and others, say that the horn of Mount Meru is hanging down, connecting the opening of Mount Meru and the Cold Mountain, and considering the circular shape as the horn, which is a baseless statement. In Sanskrit, "Śṛṅga" refers to the horn of a domestic animal or the peak of a mountain, mostly pointing upwards. It does not contradict the tip of weapons such as the Vajra horn. However, some people, without reason, arbitrarily call an open circular shape a horn, which is devoid of essence. Now, what is the source of the error in the view of Mount Meru, which most Kalachakra followers agree on? There are five peaks on top, and the places that are rooted in the ground are all around in all directions. It is said that "on the ground" refers to the width on top of Mount Sumeru, the victorious one above the position, with four times fifty thousand yojanas in the east, west, south, and north directions. Because they did not remember that the width above refers to the ground, they thought that the center of the earth was the ground, and they thought that the peaks of the five-pointed Vajra horn of Mount Meru were pointing downwards. Without understanding that "there are five peaks on top" refers to the horn peaks of Mount Meru pointing upwards, they misunderstood that horns grew from the bird's-eye view of Mount Meru, and they misunderstood the sound of "circling in all directions." They think that the horn of Mount Meru is like five layers of stacked copper troughs dripping water, which must be understood as showing an unpleasant expression of error. In reality, "circling in all directions" refers to the steps of Mount Meru, which is what the Great Commentary says: "Circling outside of that..."

From "the positions of the holes in the four directions have the six continents" to "the snow mountain is called horned." Some great scholars, Panditas, believe that the sound of "touching" is like equal volume, the volume is the touching. What is said is reasonable in meaning, and it also applies here. If the sun rises and falls between seven thousand five hundred and eight thousand six hundred, then at eight thousand six hundred, there is no mention of touching the horns, therefore, starting to grow horns from seven thousand five hundred, the Jonang Jetsun is slightly dissatisfied with this. Although some holy beings, the Immovable One, say that building cities at the top of the five horns on the summit of Mount Meru is not separate from the source of measurement. But that is not without basis. If it is said that the four peaks of Mount Meru are the palaces of Vajrapani and the central one is the pavilion of Namgyalma, etc., knowing these, why oppose this? Moreover, as a measure of Mount Meru having four peaks or four horns, previously, Lochen Dharma King incarnation built four peaks on the top of the three-story Samye Lhunkyi Drupuk Tsuglakhang. The four peaks correspond to the four Vajrapanis. And it is said that the substitutes for the four horns are the white, red, blue, and black four stupas. Moreover, at the time when Panchen Shakya Shri came to Tibet, on the walls of the stupas built, in the corners, there are many symbols of the horns of Mount Meru, if the horns extend upwards, the five piles of cities can also prove this. Why not take the writings or words of some small Indian Panditas, and the fabrications of the arrogant sons of Tibetan teachers as evidence, but must believe that these are the actions of the true Buddhas and Bodhisattvas? If it is thought that this is not related to the Kalachakra system, although the layout of Samye Monastery may be more in line with the Abhidharma, the ancient tantric tradition, the root and commentators with basis, whether it is in accordance with the treasury of the world or not, are established in this way. In general, even in the Buddha's sect, especially the content that is not obvious in the Kalachakra Root Tantra within the Anuttarayoga, it is not considered a mistake to supplement it, because the knowledge of the sutras and tantras is vast.
