If you abide in the very essence of awareness, which is free from all actions, inexpressible, beyond thought, and utterly clear, without losing its inherent radiance, then there is nothing else to be called meditation. As Orgyen Jigme Chökyi Wangpo said: "The present awareness, without any alteration, the ordinary consciousness, the moment of memory and awareness, if you don't lose its natural state, there is no room for error, Ema, son of my heart!". The Omniscient Great One also said: "Free from characteristics, beyond mind, without object, self-illuminating, without cause and effect, it cuts off the cliff of samsara." Like that, therefore, constantly, through the three places of arising, dwelling, and going, definitively establish the mind as rootless and without foundation. Then, whatever thoughts arise, understand that all are primordially free from arising, dwelling, and ceasing, and be certain of this. The self-power of awareness itself is beyond the realm of existence and non-existence, being and non-being, etc. Therefore, the doubts that grasp at being and non-being, good and bad, are faults of meditation. If there is a fixation and a target in practice, that is not the practice of Dzogchen. Therefore, constantly, without following the thoughts of the three times, see if you can maintain the present ordinary consciousness, this moment, in a relaxed, undistracted, non-meditative state. Whatever thoughts you engage with, do not negate or affirm them, but relax the awareness into its natural state, and then look back at the face of the one who generates the thoughts. Because it is free from all that observes and is observed, thoughts naturally dissolve without a trace, this is the nature of reality. In that state, abandon all fabrication, rejection, acceptance, contraction, and expansion, and if you do not lose the natural state of just understanding and just being aware, like "Water and awareness, if left alone, become clear," by leaving it in its natural state, all hope and fear, negation and affirmation, will naturally be liberated. The great accomplished Sherab Yar Pel said: "If you do not fixate on remembering, you will realize your original ground." The meaning of "If you do not fixate on remembering" is: when you think "I am distracted," do not cut off the previous thought, nor feel regret for the subsequent thought "I am distracted," but abide in the natural state of mind itself, without losing its essence. Even if there is no feeling of comfortable relaxation or clear luminosity, just sustain the state of simply noticing distraction, there is no other practice than that.

There is no need for anything. As soon as you feel distracted, if that very awareness does not lose its self-nature, it is a great, baseless, "har sang" emptiness, so you must remain in that state. If, by staying like that, conceptual thoughts arise, it is most important to look intently when conceptual thoughts arise. When you make a decision, it is most important to let go immediately. It is most important to meditate when there is no meditation. Guarding against distraction is my heart's word. Just as the omniscient lama said. Guru Rinpoche said: When coarse thoughts arise, look for the khenpo within. There is no need to deliberately abandon or adopt, leave it in its own place. As it is said, when coarse thoughts arise, whether good or bad, existent or nonexistent, happy or sad, whatever arises, look intently at the essence of the one who experiences, knows, and seeks such things, so that there is no need to deliberately abandon or adopt, and it is naturally liberated. If you remain like that, whatever arises in the realm of the six senses, whether good or bad, is self-liberated. That is, liberation is just a term, like something that naturally disappears without a trace. As it is said, for example, like drawing a picture on water, the disappearance and the drawing are simultaneous. Whatever conceptual thought arises, the arising and liberation are simultaneous. In that way, whatever good, bad, or intermediate conceptual thoughts arise, there is no benefit or harm to the essence of awareness itself. Just as whatever good or bad images appear on the surface of a mirror, the mirror itself is not stained. The omniscient lama said: There is no benefit or harm in the realm of appearances. Because clinging to it binds you to samsara. Therefore, there is no need to analyze the various appearances. Cut off the root of the clinging mind. Just like that, Tilopa said: Son, it is not appearances that bind you, it is clinging that binds you. Naropa, cut off clinging! As it is said. It is very important to have the view of self-liberation without clinging to whatever appears, without separating from it, and without clinging to anything at any time or in any way, as it is said. The oral transmission of the incomparable virtuous friend, Khenchen Lama Rinpoche Pema Tsewang, is the unerring Great Perfection guide, the actual introduction of Yeshe Lama. The ultimate meaning of Kadak Trekchö, the profound oral transmission spoken as an incidental meaning through the four yogic postures. These were recorded and transcribed from the recording by the inferior student Sherab Zangpo, who was cared for by the immeasurable compassion of the Protector. The Great Perfection of Lama Rinpoche.
