It is good to subdue sentient beings in this way. Therefore, (the Buddha) said, "Exhale upon the untamed." Then, through the blessings of Vajrapani, they regained their memory and gained control, took vows, and were empowered with the name of Vajra. The Great自在天 is the supreme vidya-mantra of Vajra. The Great Powerful One is the illusion of Vajra. Brahma is the non-speaking Vajra. The Youthful Sound is the Vajra Bell. Indra is the Vajra weapon. Likewise, all the lords who roam in the sky and space, and on the earth and under the earth, were empowered with the name of Vajra and placed in the mandala. In a similar way, Vajrapani subdued the difficult-to-tame lords of the three realms and their retinues in a wrathful manner, which is also a common topic in other tantras. Furthermore, it is said in the Vajrapani Abhisheka Tantra: The Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Samantabhadra, in order to show the past deeds of the Bhagavan Vairochana in all the worlds adorned with the essence of the flower base, made a vow. In order to master the empowerment of subduing yakshas, in this Saha world of Jambudvipa in the center, in the grove of willows, the great chief of the yaksha hosts residing in the wilderness, his eyes and face expanded by the light of the Tathagata, spoke special praises, and contemplated the inconceivable qualities of the Tathagata. The Tathagata spoke signs and verses about the coming of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. Then, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra urged the yaksha assembly to go to the Tathagata, and upon entering the samadhi called "Various Adornments," he demonstrated the common cause of all actions. He lifted the throne with both hands and rose into the sky. Then he came to the dense forest adorned with various Sala trees, in front of the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha. When he saw that the light of the pavilion illuminated all directions, and in the sky above, at sixty-eight million yojanas, it burned like a great pile of fire, shining beautifully like a thousand suns, the attendant bodhisattvas asked Shakyamuni Buddha, "What is this?" The Buddha said, "This is the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra about to come here, this is the common cause accomplished by his past actions. The light of any merit of this bodhisattva, even after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, cannot be fully understood." Bodhisattva Samantabhadra will inquire about the pure place of entering the Great Vehicle, called the category of Dharma. After saying this, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra sat in the sky above the height of seven Tala trees, and rained down heavenly flowers and incense, etc., from the sky, offered the pavilion to the Blessed One, and praised him. Then, from the pavilion, bells, and clappers, came the sound of verses of the initial practice of the Great Vehicle. The great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra asked the Blessed One about entering the Great Vehicle and its practices, etc. After that, the Blessed One entered the samadhi called the Great Vajra Source. When he entered samadhi, in all the worlds of all directions, all the Tathagatas, with the great Vajra sound, recited in one voice the essence of the Great Vajra Flaming Light, the seed syllable of Vajrasattva. They came to the dense forest adorned with Sala trees, where the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha was, sat in the lotus posture on the Great Vajra Lotus seat, and greeted the Tathagata Shakyamuni Buddha. Then, all the Tathagatas and the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha recited the mantra to bless the Vajra Mandala, and bestowed the blessings of the Buddha.

Then, that great assembly, complete with all, became desirous, thinking it was wonderful, and sat looking at Manjushri, who had become a youth. Then, Manjushri, knowing that those assemblies were single-mindedly amazed, requested the Bhagavan Shakyamuni and those Buddhas with verses to empower the sons of the Sugatas. Those Tathagatas then blessed that garden, making it possess the enclosure, adornment, arrangement, and cushions of the vajra mandala. From the crown of the head, a ray of light called "Unobstructed Power" arose and illuminated that mandala of the assembly, and as soon as it entered the crown of the head of the great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, he rejoiced and was exceedingly joyful, and spoke the essence called "Unobstructed Power." Those Tathagatas, with their samadhi, dharani, power, limbs of enlightenment, path, noble truths, emptiness, unmixed Buddha-dharmas, and the six perfections, such as giving, taming, correct discipline, and patience, which are made from the edge of great emptiness, blessed the embodied vajra and gave it into the hand of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. Immediately after that, in the countless Buddha-fields of the ten directions and in all the worlds, all the Tathagatas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, gods, nagas, yakshas, non-humans, and humans, all with one voice, said, "How wonderful! Bodhisattva Mahasattva, this one is Vajrapani! Vajrapani!" Then, again, those Tathagatas blessed this samaya and spoke the essence called "Secret Vajra," and in all the fields, the sound called "Lord of Secrets" roared and resounded. Thus, by the power of that essence and the blessing of all the Tathagatas, in the Bodhisattva Vajrapani, the mind and the complete wisdom of all the Tathagatas manifestly entered. As soon as the essence of the great Vajra Dharani for protecting beings was spoken, in all the realms of the world and all the mandalas of the Buddhas, at the feet of all the Tathagatas, all the Bodhisattvas, all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and those who first generated the mind, those who are the first workers, in front of and behind all sentient beings, whether not sleeping or asleep, or teaching the Dharma, or attaining enlightenment, or doing the benefit of sentient beings, or even in the midst of various manifestations, in front of all, the one holding the Vajra and wearing a crown, perfectly showing all forms, appears everywhere. Moreover, those Tathagatas spoke the essence of binding the earth with the Vajra, and bound all the unruly sentient beings with the Vajra binding. By speaking the essence of the Vajra Kilaya, a cry arose, "Oh, how wonderful! This great Bodhisattva, the Vajra-holder, relies on the Vajra!" Furthermore, by speaking the essence of the Vajra below, in all the realms of the world and all the places under the earth, the sound resounded, "This Vajra-holder is the Vajra of the earth below." By speaking the essence of cutting off the beings who hold Vidyas, in all the realms of the world and all the places of the Vidyadharas, that name was proclaimed. Similarly, by speaking the essence of the Vajra that subdues Yakshas, etc., the sound of the names Yaksha Vajra, Naga Vajra, Gandharva Vajra, Garuda Vajra, Kimnara Vajra, Mahodara Vajra, Rakshasa Vajra, Dakini Vajra, Bhuta Vajra, flesh-eater Vajra, flesh-eating female Vajra, Rakshasi Vajra, and Oppressor Vajra, resounded and echoed in all the realms of the world and in their respective places. Likewise, from speaking the essence of extremely terrifying oppression, until throughout all the worlds, the Vajra that cuts off all lineages is proclaimed. Then, Vajrapani entered into various samadhi gates such as Vajra Fire, causing all realms of the world to shake, become agitated, and blaze intensely. From his eyes emerged the great sight of Vajra Terrifier, and from the pores of his hair and all the joints of his limbs emerged the assembly of Vajra Wrathful Ones. From the crown of his head emerged one called Victorious Over the Three Worlds, possessing a body the size of ten great thousand worlds, resembling the fire of the end of time. From the center of his forehead emerged one called Wrathful Moon Bindu, possessing hundreds of thousands of arms. Furthermore, he manifested the vajra club, the mighty one, the striding vajra, the vajra chain, and each vajra tip accompanied by tens of thousands of male and female messengers. He also manifested the vajra fists. He also revealed their essences. Moreover, from his two hands emerged Youthful Fine Hand, and from his mouth emerged Youthful Vajra Assembly, and so on, the son of Vajrapani, the youthful wrathful one, holding the vajra, diligently working for the benefit of sentient beings, manifestly awakening in various realms of the world, generating a body of qualities such as power, fulfilling the wishes of all sentient beings. Many who accord with the heart of Vajrapani also manifested, and he revealed their mantras. Then, Vajrapani entered into the samadhi called Burning the Ashes of the Assembly that Subdues the Life of All Sentient Beings, and spoke the heart mantra, seeing all the mountains, including all the oceans, burning and drying up. In that assembly complete with everything, except for the bodhisattvas abiding on the ten bhumis, all were overturned face down on top of the vajra mandala, and from the heart of Vajrapani arose one called the Great Terrifying Flame, King of Wrathful Ones, emitting a loud horse-like roar, gathering the hearts of the assembly complete with everything, becoming like the sky itself, and entering into the heart mandala of Vajrapani. Vajrapani also abided in the great mandala of compassion, and at that time, because of abiding in the state of equality with all the Tathagatas
