Furthermore, in the detailed explanation of the "Thousand-Handed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteśvara Ritual," the miraculous power of the great Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara is inconceivable. In the distant past, immeasurable kalpas ago, he had already attained complete enlightenment and became a Buddha named Dharma Manifestation Buddha, the Bhagavan. Due to his great compassion and the power of his vows, for the benefit and happiness of sentient beings, he appears here in the form of a Bodhisattva. Gods and humans should always make offerings to him. Also, recite his name, and thus roots of virtue will arise, many sins will be purified, and after death, one will be reborn in Sukhavati. Furthermore, in the Mahayana sutra called "The Perfection of Wisdom in Few Syllables," the Bhagavan told Avalokiteśvara: You will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha named Light Rays Surpassing All, King of Glorious Banner. Those who hear your name, hold it, recite it, and extensively teach it to others, or write it in books and make offerings, all of them will become Tathagatas in the future. Thus it was said. Furthermore, in the sutra called "The Noble King Who Arranges All the Qualities of All Dharmas," Vajrapani asked: Bhagavan, Avalokiteśvara, why is he called that? The Buddha replied: Because he thus looks upon all the worlds, contemplates, satisfies, completely protects, correctly breathes, possesses a mind of compassion, a mind of happiness, a mind of loving-kindness, and a mind of affection, and fulfills all intentions, therefore he is called Avalokiteśvara.

Therefore, I have spoken about a few aspects of the secrets of the body, speech, and mind of the Bodhisattva that I have seen, in this way, and have thus benefited immeasurable beings. At that time, some of the Bodhisattvas in the assembly thought: Where did this Lord of Secrets, who possesses such power, plant the roots of virtue? How many Buddhas did he serve and honor? What kind of aspiration did he make to become like this? The Bhagavan then taught: In the past, immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable eons ago, in a kalpa called Beautiful Appearance, in a world realm called Completely Adorned, there was a Tathagata named King of Qualities, Infinite Jewels, and Various Arrangements.

In that world, in the four continents world called Beautiful Appearance, it was extremely prosperous and peaceful, and the four directions were vast. There, there was a royal city called Pure Adornment, decorated with vast wealth, and a wheel-turning king named Dhritarashtra, who ruled the four continents, was one who would not regress from unsurpassed enlightenment. He had seven hundred thousand consorts and retinues like precious jewels, and a thousand sons who were brave and possessed excellent limbs and appearances, all of whom had entered perfect enlightenment. At that time, the Blessed One, the King of Limitless Qualities, Precious Jewels, and Adornments, together with the community of monks, resided in the royal palace of the king, which was complete with pure adornments. King Dhritarashtra served the Blessed One with all pleasing enjoyments for a full one hundred million years, listened to the Dharma with mindfulness, and developed the divine eye of clairvoyance. At that time, those young princes, for the purpose of making offerings to their father, Dhritarashtra, built a vast and magnificent pavilion made of the essence of celestial sandalwood and transformation, whose water surface width was ten yojanas, and which was well adorned with beautiful decorations. The value of half a srang of that sandalwood could not be matched even by the entire Jambudvipa. Afterwards, King Dhritarashtra, together with those princes, as well as the consorts, retinues, and relatives, entered that pavilion, and with various offering items, transformed to go into the sky above, and went to where the Tathagata, the King of Limitless Qualities, Precious Jewels, and Adornments was, placed the pavilion on the ground, prostrated to the Tathagata, and listened to the Dharma. The Tathagata made them very happy with the Dharma teachings, and afterwards that king offered all the kingdom to the Buddha. There, on a full moon day, King Dhritarashtra was playing and rejoicing in the garden with a gathering of music.

As soon as the two children appeared, without breaking their lotus position, they recited verses of the Dharma, descended from their mother's laps, prostrated to their father, and said, 'Please go to the Tathagata.' Then the parents, together with their sons, went to the Buddha, listened to the Dharma, and benefited many sentient beings. After that, King Protector of the Realm, alone in a multi-storied house, thought, 'If these young ones of mine all enter unsurpassed Bodhi, then among all of them, who will be the first to attain Buddhahood?' So, he wrote the names of those young princes on seven precious vases, made offerings for seven days, and in front of the consorts and princes, the names were drawn out by the people inside. First, the name of the young prince named Pure Wisdom appeared, and at that instant, the great earth shook, and the musical instruments sounded without being played, and that was the Tathagata Destroyer of Aeons. Similarly, Victorious Army, Peaceful Lord, Accomplisher of All Purposes, and Possessor of Lineage appeared in order. They are Golden Sage, Light Protector, the current teacher Shakyamuni Buddha, and the future Maitreya. Similarly, from the name Supreme Wisdom to the name Crown Ornamented, appearing among a thousand names lacking one, in order from Buddha Lion to the Tathagata of Infinite Qualities Fame. When the name of the youngest of all the princes, Infinite Wisdom, appeared last of all, all the elder brothers said, 'We have ripened all sentient beings, so what will you do after that?'
