A person named "Opening Eyes" ruled over eighty-four thousand small kingdoms. He gave away all his treasures and ordered the small kingdoms to give alms as well. At that time, in order to subdue a remote small kingdom that did not obey orders, a minister named "Lodar" began to wage war. That small kingdom was frightened and sent a blind man under its rule to beg for one eye. The king gave the eye and put it into the eye of that blind Brahmin, and as soon as he uttered a prayer of truthful words, he became sighted. The Brahmin was happy and said, "This eye is enough, I don't need another one." The king said, "I will give you both of my eyes." After saying that, he gave the other eye as well, and through prayer, both of the Brahmin's eyes could see. Indra asked and tested him, and when he spoke the power of truth, both of the king's eyes were restored to their original state, and he also bestowed many jewels upon that Brahmin and sent him back. Later, when the king of that small kingdom asked what had happened, and when he was told what had happened, the king of the small kingdom named "Ladavar" died of grief.

When the sound of suffering groans due to hunger and thirst was heard, the rabbit took a breath. Among the students, on the first day, the otter found seven fish carcasses and hosted everyone with them. The next day, the jackal found a dung beetle and a yogurt that someone had lost and sustained himself with them. After that, the monkey gave each of them ripe mango fruits separately. After that, the rabbit began to give away its own body. Indra conjured up a pile of fire, and the rabbit was happy to see the fire, and jumped into the fire like a swan into a lotus pond. Indra transformed back into his own form, praised the rabbit, and lifted it up with his own hands, showed it to the thirty-three gods, and praised it. The magnificent Sudharma Hall, the pavilion of the auspicious gathering place, and the image of the rabbit on the moon are still clear even today. Furthermore, in a previous life, when the Bhagavan was born as the wild animal Kuntara, because someone wanted its golden fur, they sent a hunter to search for it. A starving hunter was rescued by this wild animal, and the animal fed him with fruits and water. When he saw that the hunter was unhappy, he asked the reason. The hunter said, "I have come for your fur." The wild animal happily said, "Please skin me and take my fur!" The hunter took the fur and ate its meat. The bees and other creatures that ate the meat were all reborn in the heavens. Also, when he was born as a turtle, five hundred merchants from a ship that had sunk in the ocean were carried on his back and safely crossed the ocean. When the turtle fell asleep, eighty thousand Kitaka worms came and ate its body. When the turtle woke up, it was afraid of harming those creatures, so it did not move and allowed them to eat it. He made aspirations for unsurpassed enlightenment and then passed away. Also, in the past, in a hole, there was an animal that became a loving dung beetle. A hunter skinned it and let it go. Because it was very painful, it lay down by a cool riverbank, and eighty thousand ants from an anthill ate it. It could have escaped, but thinking that if I moved, these beings would become unkind, it did not move and allowed them to eat all the flesh, making aspirations for unsurpassed enlightenment.

That established the path. Again, a Naga youth named Campaka, who had good faith and became a virtuous sentient being, took the sojong on the eighth and fourteenth days, and then transformed into a large body in another place, giving up his body without regard for it. There, a famine occurred, and many people, such as cowherds, cut and ate the Naga's flesh, and in this way, many were satisfied with their share. Again, when he was born as a prince named Gewa Dondrup, he fled far away, fearing the army gathered by the minister Rahu, and because he ran out of provisions, he gave his body to his parents, just as the way to be liberated from the monastery, as it appears in the Sutra of Repaying Kindness. Again, a prince named Metok, who was beautiful and possessed great royal wealth, was afflicted with leprosy. He dug out his own leg and smeared it on his body, and the disease was cured. Thus, the Bhagavan, in the past, gave eyes, blood, limbs, and so forth for the sake of attaining unsurpassed enlightenment, which cannot be counted or measured. Just as the great ocean is completely filled with water, and the dust of Mount Meru, the king of mountains, can be measured, the number of eyes and so forth given by the Bodhisattva cannot be measured, as it is said in the Sutra. Again, in the Sutra Requested by Gangpo, it is said that in the past, when the Bhagavan was born as a Bodhisattva, he went alone without a companion and was killed by wild animals. As he was dying, he knew that those wild animals would kill and devour many sentient beings but still not be satisfied, so he made the aspiration: 'May I be born as a large animal body, so that those fierce wild animals, after killing my life, may be satisfied.' Thus, he was born as a large animal body and satisfied all the wild animals. Similarly, in countless eons, he took bodies and benefited sentient beings. For an eon or more, in the past, when the Bodhisattva practiced giving, he satisfied hungry and thirsty sentient beings with his own flesh and blood. If one were to recount these, they would never be exhausted. Thus, only a small portion of the Bodhisattva's practice of giving is taught in the sutras, and here only a rough summary is indicated, not the entirety. Again, in a past time, there was a king named Wangchuk De.

At the time when there was a great city called 'Bya ba' which ruled over eighty-four thousand great cities, a great kalpa of disease occurred in the world. Then, a son entered the womb of the queen of that king, and by merely touching the limbs of that queen's body with her hand, all diseases were cured. After the months were complete, a boy was born, and as soon as he was born, he said, 'I am able to heal the sick.' At that time, the gods and nagas of the world unanimously said, 'This is the doctor of humans,' and because the sound of this spread everywhere, his name was also known as 'the doctor of humans.' At that time, all the sick people were brought and shown to the prince, and by merely touching the prince's body or hand, all the diseases were cured and they became happy. Similarly, he healed all the sick people living in Jambudvipa and lived for a thousand years, and when the prince passed away, the sick people cried out, 'Who will liberate us from suffering?' Then, they took the bones from the place where the prince was cremated and smeared them on their bodies, and all were healed. Even now, it is said that 'the doctor of humans can heal the sick.' After the bones were exhausted, those who were smeared with the earth, ashes, and charcoal from the cremation site were also freed from disease, and thus, the doctor of humans is the Bhagavan himself. In another Jataka tale, there is a similar story called 'Sentient Being Doctor,' and by touching his body, which remained uncorrupted in the Joyful Pond, or by being touched by his wind, or by drinking the water from that direction, all were freed from disease. It is also said that merely hearing his name purifies diseases. Furthermore, once there was a merchant named 'Well-Found,' who went to sea and found jewels. On his return, before he reached home, beggars begged for jewels, and he gave them so many jewels, each worth a hundred thousand gold coins, giving away as many as eighty billion jewels. Then, without returning home, he went to sea again and obtained jewels that were half as good as before, and after eighty years, when he entered his own city, he saw a man seized by executioners, and in order to save him, he gave each of the executioners a jewel.
