At noon in the wilderness, The hungry ghost is blue and dry, with red eyes and tangled hair, With a thin neck and limbs, Long, curved fingernails, a fist full of ashes, and an ugly form. From the mouth comes the sound, "If needed, don't give even if there is, Even if you give, give very little." When encountering and pleading with these five sounds, The Buddha said that this is the result of obstructing others and not giving water. Therefore, give water without other impurities, And recite mantras such as "Om Jvala Midam (藏文, 梵文天城体, 梵文罗马拟音, 汉语字面意思) (Om, Flame, Giving)", and give with a single hand drum. Therefore, wash your hands thoroughly, Make sure there is no tsampa smell between your fingernails. Geshe Chen-nga said that in plain water, Even if only a small piece of tsampa is added, it is almost invisible, This is the instruction given through experience. If there are two or more hand drums, fear arises, Therefore, use only one hand drum. The benefits are longevity, few illnesses, and reversal of curses, No obstacles can hinder, especially, The attainment of wealth and prosperity will occur, And it will eliminate indigestion and unhappiness. If you are radiant and spread it to others, You will be liberated from the hungry ghost realm and attain Buddhahood. Giving to all the hungry ghosts in the world, Is more meritorious than giving to one who creates obstacles. Why? Because they, except for water, Prevent all other offerings, Because they selfishly cut off and do not even give water, So that even rivers can dry up in their throats. For those beings burning with endless suffering, Even giving other foods will not be received, Therefore, reciting mantras that greatly pacify the mind, Giving only water is said to be very beneficial. Surupa has seven certainties: Even before consuming a small amount of food or drink, If the time of giving is interrupted even once, There will be great suffering of fainting and vomiting, Therefore, giving without interruption is the certainty of time. Because of fear of human sounds, dog sounds, etc., And because of sensing unclean smells, etc., Seclusion and cleanliness are the certainty of place. Because it may be seen as ironware or weapons, Therefore, earthenware or precious vessels are the certainty of vessel. The torma vessel for hungry ghosts, Must not have even a single iron nail. Because they see it as a place of nausea and do not accept it, Therefore, maintaining cleanliness is the certainty of the giver. Clean water and tsampa are the certainty of substance. Yourself

Meditate on either the father or a beautiful form. The vessel is precious, the food is divine. Visualize the water as an ocean of nectar, and spread loving-kindness to all hungry ghosts. Food should be without victory or defeat and harmless; giving is the certainty of pure intention. Recite the mantra seven times, and shake the handbell three times with the left hand. After dedicating with this, the next mantra is: Some evil people, even if pleased by performances, will still look for opportunities to harm. This is to protect hungry ghosts from such harm. Discard in a clean place and dedicate the merit of Dharma giving. The certainty of the ritual has such benefits: giving each hungry ghost a large bowl of food, each will obtain the merit of giving, and in future lives they will not become weak or poor. They will become strong, have a good appearance, be pleasing to see, be rich and have abundant resources, be long-lived, free from illness, quickly attain enlightenment, and it is said they will be reborn in Sukhavati after death. Giving changbu (barley beer) before food becomes a ransom for life and wealth. In the past, five hundred ogresses and their children devoured three to five hundred people every day. The Teacher hid one of their children in his bowl, and although they searched with various miraculous powers, they could not find it, and were very tired and distressed. They then sought refuge in the Teacher himself. He bestowed changbu marked with the traces of five fingers, and satisfied all of them. All of them vowed to abandon killing, and the Teacher advised the four assemblies to give changbu, and advised all the ogresses to protect them. Therefore, whether it is the mantra of changbu or the mantra of the blazing mouth, bless it with either one and then give it. When one begins to engage in the activity of eating, there are about eighty thousand worms in the body. Now, gathering these together with offerings, quickly nourish them with the nectar of Dharma. Generate such a superior intention, and in order to use the three doors of body, speech, and mind for the sacred Dharma, think of giving food as food, drink, and reward. Furthermore, by possessing either the generation stage or the completion stage, food yoga is the inner fire offering, etc. In brief, many ways of ritual are: Meditate on oneself as the form of Lokeshvara, transform the foods into nectar with the three syllables, and with that, be pleased to offer.
