The extensive and concise commentaries composed by Könchok Yenlak (དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡན་ལག་), and the words of Kunkhyen Chökyi Jungne (ཀུན་གཟིགས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འབྱུང་གནས་), recorded by Lotsawa Tshewang Künga Khyap (ཚེ་དབང་ཀུན་ཁྱབ་), as well as the annotations of Khenchen Lhalungpa Karma Tenphel (ལྷ་ལུང་པ་ཀ་རྨ་བསྟན་འཕེལ་), and other extensive and concise commentaries. Among other commentaries, the Eighth Karmapa greatly praised Dakpo Rampa's commentary, and taking that as an example, I have read and understood all the aforementioned commentary documents. Primarily, I have extracted the essence of the views of Tsur Jampa Chenpo's (མཚུར་འཇམ་ཆེན་པོ་) words, and the excellent explanations of Je Trinley Zhap (རྗེ་ཕྲིན་ལས་ཞབས་), as I found both of them to be particularly outstanding in terms of both words and meaning. The teachings of the peerless supreme teacher, Like the two pillars of the noble land. The hundred-fold knot of the self-born Vajradhara, Other wise and accomplished ones touch the glory of near authority. All of his sacred words, Even a single word has endless ways of realization. The commentaries that measure how with discriminating wisdom, The extensive and concise collections of writings have come down through the generations. The root vajra words are profound and stable, Some seem to realize after hearing them, But those who unite the two great chariots of sutra and tantra into one intention, Only a few realize the secret key to their union. Those who hear only one side explain and expound on that side, Many different opinions arise from the same root. They attribute the faults of their own minds to the words of the Victorious One, The actions of scholars in degenerate times mostly deceive. Intelligence is dull and the power of study is weak, Not understanding this, like a blind snake in the dark, Although it is not appropriate to explain the profound words and meanings, The aspiration to do so always follows after them. In this way, I have lineage and have studied a little, My eye of wisdom, which understands only a little, is not closed, Although I can spread collections of different words, I repeat the good words of the supreme predecessors because I cherish them. Because the flood of words obscures the profound meaning, This is forbidden in the tantras and mind commentaries, Therefore, following the masters of wisdom and accomplishment who have the eye of Dharma, This is stable in the short and long term. May the stream of virtuous deeds, stirred by the childish mind, Be tolerated and accepted by the Three Roots and the Dharma Protectors, May all those who are connected to this and are never obscured, Be nourished by the light of the two wisdoms.

The essence of all dharmas, the quintessence of the Vajrayana, May the lineage of explanations of this text never be extinguished, From realizing it as it is and meditating properly, May the great perfection of accomplished ones be attained. By hearing the essence of the union of the two truths, understand, And realize the profound view without error. By thinking about outer, inner, other, and suchness, gain certainty, And become proficient in the meditation of channels, winds, and drops. From the three supreme vajras of ground and result inseparable, By enhancing the coemergent union and the three conducts, From the realm of the dharmakaya of the first Buddha, May the great clouds of the form body emanate into a wheel pervading space. Thus, this is called "Manifesting the Profound Meaning," which explains the essence of the ocean of Anuttarayoga Tantras with few words of profound inner meaning. This was requested directly and indirectly by some great beings with great pure intentions, who considered the teachings when explaining and propagating them, and who exerted great effort to examine the root self-commentary and the transmission of explanations, including the "Tongtun," and made it somewhat understandable. Because the self-commentary is too concise and difficult to understand, and the "Tongtun" does not completely follow the words of the text, and other commentaries have not even included the lineage of explanations, and the extensive and concise are not suitable for the vessels of those with little wisdom, and those who take the six dharmas of the glorious Naropa as the path, it is inevitable that they will not fully understand this text. Hoping that the lineage of explanations will continue uninterrupted, although I intended to only make a word-by-word explanation, I was delayed by laziness. Later, in order to benefit the teachings of the Karmapas, the great manifestation of the practice lineage, the third reincarnation of Gönpo, Karma Drubgyu Tendzin Trinley Zhab, aimed to establish a lineage of explanations related to the practice of the three bases, and as an aid to him, the renunciate Karma Ngawang Yönten Gyatso Trinley Kunkhyab Palzangpo, who entered the teachings of the omniscient Karmapa father and son, or the group of those with limitless wisdom, because they were too old to create many new words, extracted the key points from the good explanations of the predecessors, and in an easy-to-understand and concise manner, wrote this at the Kunzang Dechen Ösal Ling, the practice site of Palpung Yangtrö, the main seat of the Do Kham Kagyu.
