Therefore, the human being itself is: Having the same fortune as people, possessing the faculties of male and female. Being born in the central region is: being born in a place where one can rely on holy individuals. Having complete faculties is: not being foolish or mute, having the opportunity to practice virtuous Dharma. Trust in the place is: trusting in the holy Dharma spoken by the teacher, which is the Vinaya Pitaka, the place of all white Dharma. Not transgressing the limits of karma is: not having committed the five heinous crimes in this life. The five endowments of others are: the Buddha appearing in the world, teaching the holy Dharma, the Dharma that is taught abiding, following the Dharma that abides, and having compassion for others. Thus, having these ten conditions of oneself and others is called having perfect endowments. Like this, when both leisure and endowment are complete, that is the precious human body. Why is it called precious? Because it is similar to a wish-fulfilling jewel, it is difficult to obtain, therefore it is called precious; it is of great benefit, therefore it is called precious. Among these, being difficult to obtain is: In the Bodhisattva Pitaka it is said: Becoming a human is difficult, obtaining a human life is also difficult, obtaining the holy Dharma is difficult, and the appearance of a Buddha is also difficult. For example, how is it difficult to obtain? In the Bodhicaryāvatāra it is said: Therefore, the Bhagavan said: Like a blind turtle inserting its neck into the hole of a yoke floating in the vast ocean, obtaining a human body is extremely difficult. It is like that. Those born in the three lower realms are difficult to obtain. Being of great benefit is: Teacher Chandragomin said: Once obtained, it can transcend the limits of birth, and it is also a field for planting the seeds of supreme Bodhi, it has more qualities than a wish-fulfilling jewel, who would make such a human body fruitless? Relying on the path of the Sugatas, preparing to guide beings, with the great strength of mind, whatever path is obtained by humans, that path cannot be obtained by gods and nagas, how could asuras and flesh-eating demons obtain it? Therefore, with this leisure and endowment of the human body, one can abandon non-virtue, one can practice virtue, one can cross the ocean of samsara, one can achieve

Being able to travel the path of liberation, one can attain perfect Buddhahood. Shantideva said, "Relying on the boat of the human body, one can be liberated from the great river of suffering." Therefore, having obtained leisure and endowment, one must do something meaningful. As Shantideva said, "This boat is difficult to obtain later, fools should not sleep at this time." This means that this boat of the human body is difficult to obtain later, so foolish people should not sleep when they have leisure. He also said, "Having obtained such leisure, if I do not practice virtue, there is no greater deception than this, and there is no greater foolishness than this." This means that after obtaining such a rare human body with leisure, if I do not practice virtue, there is no greater deception than this, and there is no greater foolishness than this. The sutra says, "In this time of obtaining extremely rare leisure, if one does not diligently seek lasting happiness, but is distracted by laziness and meaningless activities, what kind of mind does that person have? If one strives at this time, one will obtain lasting happiness, and if one does not strive, one will wander in the ocean of suffering samsara. Lasting happiness and suffering can be chosen, and if one is a human being, one should strive at this time." Therefore, although the human body is difficult to obtain and has great benefits, it is extremely easy to destroy, because there is no one to nourish life, the causes of death are many, and time does not stop for an instant. As it is said in the Bodhicharyavatara, "Thinking 'I will not die today,' it is not appropriate to live in ease, for my body will surely become nothing, and then there will surely be many fears." This means that if one thinks that one will not die today and lives in ease, this is not the time to be complacent, for my body will surely become nothing, and then there will surely be many fears. In general, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and the Buddha himself said, "Monks, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent." So, how is it impermanent? In the Dhammapada it says, "All accumulations end in dissipation, all that is high falls, all meetings end in separation, and all that lives ends in death." This means that what is accumulated will eventually dissipate, what is high will eventually fall, what meets will eventually separate, and what has life will eventually die. Moreover, the external world is also impermanent, it will experience various formations, durations, destructions, and emptiness, the weather will experience the changes of the four seasons, and the state will not remain unchanged, the rising and falling of the sun, moon, and stars, etc., there is not a moment that is constant. The sentient beings within are also impermanent, and in the Arya Mahaparinirvana Sutra it says, "The three realms are like autumn clouds, sentient beings watch the dance of death." This means that the three realms are like autumn clouds, and sentient beings are like watching the dance of death. Moreover, one cannot stay in this world for a long time, everyone must die, and there is nothing that can be the cause of immortality. Although food and the like are the cause of immortality, one must eventually die, and wealth and utensils, etc., although they are favorable conditions for maintaining one's own survival
