From the three moments of introduction until the moment of death, subtle and coarse afflictions, and the grossness of the body of elements, by whichever of the four ways of dying, one will be enlightened in the primordial realm. Secondly, the seven distinctions of the middling faculty increase and expand in the bardo, which has three aspects: essence, divisions, and taking the path. First, the essence of the bardo is that all appearances other than the ground-essence, the primordially pure, are the state of the bardo. The appearances that arise as the ground-appearance wisdom are the pure dharmata bardo, and all the impure, deluded phenomena included in the six realms are the impure, deluded bardo. That is, the mind with its seeds that arises from the essence of primordial purity and has not yet been perfected in the realm of manifestation is the bardo. Second, the divisions are as stated in the Root Wisdom: "There are four divisions." These are the bardo of birth and death or nature, the bardo of dying, the bardo of dharmata, and the bardo of existence. First, the bardo of birth and death or nature is from the moment of conception in the mother's womb until struck by the disease of death. Second, the bardo of dying is from the approach of death until the cessation of the inner breath. Third, the dharmata bardo is from the cessation of the inner breath and the arising of the appearance of clear light until the dissolution of the spontaneous appearances. Fourth, the existence bardo is from the dissolution of the spontaneous appearances until the establishment of the next rebirth. Third, the individual ways of taking the path are shown by two examples and meanings. The example is like cutting off doubts in the bardo of the place of birth, like entering a group of spotted dogs. The meaning is to rely on the noble lama and to diligently take to heart the meanings of the instructions taught by him through hearing, thinking, and meditating, thereby cutting off doubts. The clarification of the bardo of dying is like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror. The meaning is to clearly bring to mind the practices previously accustomed to, through one's own or another's circumstances. At this time, it is said that at the time of the cessation of the outer breath, by focusing awareness on the rays of light called the secret path of Vajrasattva that pierce the eyes, one will be liberated upwards and thoroughly. In the dharmata bardo, trusting in one's own appearances is like a child entering its mother's lap. The meaning is that because the meaning of the instructions has been integrated into practice, no matter how the appearances of dharmata arise, there is no fear, but confidence that one's own appearances are the play of wisdom.

They are liberated by the eight ways of arising and the eight ways of dissolving, transforming into the primordial pure youthful vase body. If one is not liberated in this way, then in the bardo of existence, like water flowing into a fox den through a broken channel, one continues the momentum of karma. No matter what illusions and fears arise, through previous habituation and the essential points of the instructions that will be explained here, one enters the path of pure rebirth and connects with it. Third, the seven distinctions of the final faculties are released into the realm of the spontaneously arisen Sambhogakaya, thereby attaining Buddhahood: Although one sees the meaning of the manifest Dharmata in this life, one does not have the opportunity to meditate, and therefore does not possess the measure of liberation in the bardo. Although the Dharmata Bardo arises, one does not recognize it. Therefore, in the Bardo of Existence, it appears only as a dream. However, through the blessings of the truth of Dharmata and the compassion of the Vidyadhara master Padmakara, at the moment of awakening from a dream, one is miraculously born in the fully adorned pure realms of the five families, such as Lotus Light and Abhirati. One sees the faces of the Tathagatas, such as Orgyen Vajradhara and the Buddhas of the five families, receives instructions, and is liberated from all the bonds of afflictions. Finally, in the boundless sky above, in the charnel ground piled with secret places, on the mountain of blazing fire, one sees the realm of the wrathful deities. In the primordial ground, in that very instant, one is liberated and abides in the indivisible mind of the inner luminous body and wisdom, unchanging in the three times. Like the wish-fulfilling tree, one spontaneously accomplishes the welfare of sentient beings to be tamed, according to their needs, until samsara is empty. Like the wish-fulfilling jewel, unceasing compassion, without contrivance, will arise. Fifth, explaining the classification and collection of instructions: For those individuals who possess wisdom, devotion, and diligence, and who wish to establish themselves on the path of this Dharma, one first completes the common and uncommon preliminaries, with signs of accomplishment. One then engages in the creation stage, outer, inner, secret, and very secret, as well as the activities of accomplishment and extensive boundaries, preceded by the recitation of the time, signs, and numbers. Having gained control over the wind and mind through the yoga of Tummo, one then practices the uncommon preliminaries of Dzogchen until signs of accomplishment arise. Through Trekchö, one sees the nature of awareness nakedly, and in Tögal,
