There are five qualities: First, generating Bodhicitta; entering the supreme conduct; obtaining non-retrogression; becoming an ordinary incarnation; and showing the difference in accomplishing the two benefits. The first is: This unchanging Dharma nature of the prince, having realized it, those blinded by ignorance, in the purity of birth and so on, whatever is seen, that is marvelous. Having attained the realm of the noble ones, showing it as the realm of children, for that reason, it is the means and great compassion of the friend of beings. Thus it is said, the princes and Bodhisattvas abiding on the first ground, having directly realized the unchanging Dharma nature, the luminous nature of the mind, liberated from the birth and death of karma and afflictions, but for those to be tamed, those whose eyes of wisdom are blinded by ignorance, what is seen in the purity of birth and death and so on, doing things for their benefit, is a surprising and rare deed. Similarly, the conduct of the noble ones, far from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, the nature of mind

They act accordingly. For example, just as lotus flowers grow in water but are not stained by the faults or impurities of the water, so too, the noble prince, although born into the world for the sake of others, is never stained by the faults of the world, such as disturbing emotions. The third is: "Always wise in accomplishing deeds, blazing like fire, in peaceful contemplation, constantly enters into samadhi." It is said that bodhisattvas abiding on the eighth ground constantly engage in accomplishing the benefit of others without any effort of their own. For example, just as dry firewood blazes with strong fire spontaneously, they enter in such a way. Moreover, at the same time, they constantly and continuously enter into the samadhi of peaceful contemplation, which is the sign of being free from elaboration, because they have obtained mastery over non-conceptual wisdom. The fourth is: "Due to the power of past aspirations, and being free from all discriminations, they do not need to make effort for the sake of maturing beings. Whether through teachings and form bodies, or through conduct and behavior, whatever tames whom, how, and by what means, they know it as it is. Thus, for beings as infinite as the sky, they are always spontaneously accomplished. That unimpeded, wise one truly engages in the benefit of sentient beings." It is said that bodhisattvas abiding on the tenth ground spontaneously accomplish their aims due to the power of past aspirations, such as those made on the ninth ground and below. Furthermore, because they have abandoned all conceptual thoughts of motivation by completely transforming their basis, that last existence does not need to make effort or diligence for the sake of fully maturing those to be tamed. Even so, they can teach the Dharma in accordance with their thoughts, manifest various forms of emanations in accordance with the capacity of beings, and engage in great altruistic conduct, as well as various modes of behavior such as walking and standing. Whatever being is to be tamed, in whatever way, and by whatever means, that prince

Thus, one also truly and completely knows how the activity is obtained. Thus, without effort and entering in various ways, for all the immeasurable beings in the boundless realm of space, the wise bodhisattva, who constantly and effortlessly accomplishes everything spontaneously, and who acts in all times and places in a meaningful and unobstructed way, truly and infallibly engages in the activity of accomplishing the benefit of those beings by their own nature, in order to tame the beings to be tamed and to fully ripen them. The fifth is: This conduct of the bodhisattva is equal to the Thus-Gone Ones in subsequent attainment, and in saving sentient beings, it is equal in the world. Although it is so, what is the difference between the dust of the earth and the ocean and the hoofprint of a cow? The difference between the Buddha and the Bodhisattva is the same. It is said that the way the bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground engages in activity is the same as the Thus-Gone Ones who have exhausted abandonment and realization in terms of making others fully mature in the subsequent attainment, and it is the same in the world in terms of spontaneously accomplishing and continuously saving sentient beings who have become tamable from the ocean of suffering of samsara, because they can obtain the six superknowledges and the ten powers and other special qualities. Although it is the same as the Buddha in terms of benefiting others, the difference is very great in terms of the qualities of self-benefit abandonment and realization. For example, the difference between the great earth circle and the dust particle, and the difference between the great ocean and the water of the hoofprint of a cow, is the same as the difference between the ultimate qualities of the perfect Buddha and the qualities of the path of the tenth ground bodhisattva, which is also very great. Here, the way to combine the earth, as explained by Kunkhyen Dolpopa according to the meaning of Tokme's (Asanga's) Great Commentary. Omniscient Rangjung Zhap (Self-Arisen Feet) said, with the two verses "The pulling of the past," etc., he explained the reason why the bodhisattva on the ninth ground is free from effort and obtains individual correct views, and thus "Like the sky," etc., explains the immeasurable qualities of the bodhisattva on the tenth ground who benefits others.
