By accumulating karma and relying on intermediate objects, accumulating sins, practicing intermediate ten non-virtuous actions, and practicing an intermediate amount, one is born as a preta. Accumulating karma driven by ignorance, relying on ordinary and inferior objects, accumulating sins, practicing small non-virtuous actions, and practicing a small amount, one is born as an animal. By practicing the three kinds of contaminated virtuous actions, great, intermediate, and small, one is born as gods, asuras, and humans. Therefore, whatever karma one has accumulated will not be wasted in vain, but will remain on oneself. Like drawing a straight line, one will experience it without error, so one should always examine one's own three doors of body, speech, and mind, and cultivate joy in those that have become virtuous. In order not to waste it, for the benefit of sentient beings, seal it with pure dedication. For non-virtuous actions, properly perform confession and vows of repentance. It is very important not to associate with sins and transgressions, and to strive to correct them. Whenever disturbing emotions and non-virtuous thoughts arise, destroy them immediately, and make a firm determination not to let them control you, and put the acceptance and rejection of virtue and non-virtue into practice without reversing them. Three sessions. Fourth, contemplating the faults of samsara: As mentioned above, by the fruits of practicing various non-virtuous and virtuous actions, one gradually takes birth in the lower realms. If one is born in hell, there are eight hot hells, eight cold hells, and two kinds of neighboring and solitary hells, totaling eighteen hells. In each of these hells, there is unbearable suffering, immeasurable suffering, and only suffering without any opportunity for happiness. If one is born in the eight hot hells, how much does it hurt now if one's mouth is burned by something hot? How will it be if all the internal organs are burned by boiling molten iron and cooked in copper vessels, etc., experiencing unimaginable suffering? Even being pricked by a thorn is painful, what to say of being chopped and cut into pieces by burning swords and saws? Even wearing slightly thin clothes feels cold, if one is born in the cold hells, naked without clothes, unable to bear the cold hail and wind, trapped in danger, the body cracking into pieces, etc., experiencing immeasurable suffering, so much suffering. If one is born as a preta, even if one does not eat for a day now, one cannot bear it. If one is born there, counting human months as days, for five hundred years even

Even a drop of water or a morsel of food cannot be found. Even if found and eaten, it cannot pass through the throat, and the stomach cannot bear it. The internal organs are burned by flames, causing suffering. Animals dwelling in water, those existing in the outer ocean, and those scattered in the realms of gods and humans, all devour each other like humans, bearing heavy burdens. Unable to plow, they are forced to till the land, cutting flesh, piercing noses, slaughtering, and so on. Also, birds flying in the sky, wild animals roaming on the ground, and all kinds of animals see humans as executioners wielding knives, fearing being killed, and so on. The suffering experienced in the human body now is like being pierced by five hundred short spears, so even being born there is suffering. The suffering of death and transmigration for gods is: the suffering of the mind is a million times greater than the suffering of hell, like sifting fish with a sieve. The suffering of Asuras is that their minds are filled with anger due to fighting, their bodies are wounded, and so on, the suffering is the same as above. The suffering of being born as a human is: when dwelling in the human womb, if the time is not long, it is like being pressed down by a heavy object. When hungry, it is like being hung in the air. When eating hot food, it is like being boiled in a hot spring; when eating cold food, it is as painful as being placed in an ice cellar. At the time of birth, it is like being squeezed between two great mountains. When falling to the ground, it is like being thrown into a thorn bush. When cutting the umbilical cord, it is as painful as being skinned. Then gradually aging, the teeth in the mouth fall out, the hair turns white, the eyes become dim, the ears become deaf, the waist bends, standing is like being pulled, sitting is like falling, the feet cannot support the body, and being despised by everyone, and so on, is unbearable suffering. When sick, even just a toothache is unbearable, let alone other diseases? The suffering of death is also, lying at the end of the bed, eating the last food, relatives and friends surrounding, saying the last words, and with the process of decomposition, feeling the body falling into the ground. Helpless and at a loss, the breath comes and goes intermittently from the nose and mouth, irreversibly ceasing, experiencing immeasurable fear and dread, and there is no way to deceive oneself, which is very painful. Furthermore, what is possessed cannot be protected, what is not possessed cannot be found, fearing encountering enemies, fearing separation from loved ones, fearing not having a son, fearing not marrying off a daughter, fearing the loss of territory, partiality, and reputation, and so on, is suffering. Therefore, the happiness and wealth of samsara, even for Brahma and Indra, are like this.
