There are two forms, including one form in which it is necessary to precede with empowerment. In the former, for the instantaneous person, liberation occurs solely through the blessing of empowerment, through the indication of symbols, and through the slight indication of key instructions, as in the history of the accomplished masters of the sacred land of India. In particular, in Tibet, there are many histories of liberation through this kind of method, so for this method, there is no necessity to show the stages of instruction in a continuous sequence. Among the two known as the method with elaboration and the spontaneous union without elaboration, which are transmitted from Mila (Jetsun Milarepa), it is the latter form. The second is the gradual empowerment, as it says in the instruction manual of the spontaneous union of Rangjung Dorje: For the preliminary practice, the qualified lama should teach the disciple who practices properly, abandoning the activities of this life, and striving for unsurpassed enlightenment. First, having obtained the vows of ethical discipline and the supreme bodhicitta, and having fully ripened the continuum through empowerment, one should practice in a secluded and pleasant place. And so on, as it is certain to exist in the practice of the lineage. As for the ripening empowerment that precedes it, it is sufficient to do it through any deity of the unsurpassed tantra class. However, in practice, it seems that the empowerment is performed in the mandala of Chakrasamvara, father and mother. The great accomplished Lodro Rinchen also explained it in conjunction with the oral transmission of the Vajra Lines, and it is also consistent in meaning. For this method of instruction, there is one tradition of entering the generation stage immediately after receiving empowerment, and entering the formless yoga after becoming accustomed to it; and there is another view that it is easier to obtain clarity and to quickly obtain siddhis by entering the generation stage after becoming slightly accustomed to the formless calm-abiding and insight yoga. Both of these practices exist, and both are practiced in union, from the generation stage onwards, in the manner of pushing one force with another, with the two stages of completion, with form and without form. The latter is the common path tradition of Sutra and Tantra, as in the view of Gampopa and his son, greatly promoted and practiced by Lord Maitripa.

He also composed the "Ten Treatises on Suchness," which expound this principle, and this is the true tradition. Regarding this, Dakpo Rinpoche said: "Geshe Chakriwa, Nyukrumpa, Gya Yön Dak, Jhayülwa, and others relied on many Kadampa lamas, listened to Jowoje's instructions on the 'Three Levels of Individuals,' and adorned it with its guiding methods. Therefore, it is known as the confluence of the two rivers of Kagyü and Kadampa, meaning that even with this method, one can touch the realization of Mahamudra in a not-too-long time, so it does not go beyond the name and meaning of the instruction of effortless, spontaneous co-emergence. Moreover, as Dakpo Rinpoche prophesied in dreams and through people, 'The Kadampa Dharma that I transmit seems to benefit many beings.' He also said, 'The small amount of benefit that I am now bringing to sentient beings is due to the kindness of the Kadampa lamas.' The fact that many wild animals listen when the drum is beaten, and dreaming of giving them milk, etc., all truly reside in this later guiding method. The meaning of these is that because the time of the five degenerations has arrived, the common recipients of the Vajrayana have become very few. However, by guiding the dull-witted and those with little merit through the stages of the three levels of individuals, they eventually increase their merit and become common vessels for mantra, thereby attaining liberation in an instant. Or, even if not, through this method, they can see the meaning of Mahamudra and thus be placed on the irreversible path. Therefore, from Jetsun himself until now, this guiding method has the tradition of guiding all disciples, regardless of their high or low capacity. On top of that, when teaching the profound expedient path of mantra to those who are fortunate, it is called 'the instruction of the causal time' or 'the basic guidance.' There is no need to examine the disciple's capacity, let alone enter with faith in the profound meaning; even doubt can bring great benefit. As it says in the 'Ratnavali': 'Those with little merit will not even have doubt about this Dharma. Even doubting this will destroy samsara.' And in the 'Bodhicharyavatara'
