No. One should be cautious about sleeping with corpses, etc. The saying that afflictions can be taken onto the path refers to someone like Tilopa Naropa, who has perfected the skill of wisdom within and can manifest miraculous displays of magic outwardly. It does not refer to someone who has not gained control over their own mind and indulges in the confusion of afflictions. For someone who has no experience or realization in their own being, even if they try to benefit sentient beings, it will not be effective and will harm themselves. Like protecting the small sprout of a great medicine without cutting it, it is most important to focus solely on one's own practice. Someone who has not gained stability in obtaining warmth will harm themselves even if they benefit others. It is said that once one has attained the ground, the benefit of oneself and others will arise effortlessly. Even if harm such as illness, misfortune, evil spirits, and obstacles occur, if one thinks, "I am..., the evil spirit is harming me," etc., by looking at their own nature, even if there is no immediate benefit or harm at the time of the decline in experience, by repeatedly enduring, it will gradually disappear without a trace. Also, when the poison of that arises, by looking at its nature, the spread of clinging and delusion, etc., will gradually decrease, and the same is true for suffering, etc. When it is slightly better than that, even if the gates of manifestation of illness, etc., do not stop, its nature will appear empty, naked, and clear. If it is not held by mindfulness, there is no difference from ordinary people. Even if one understands that appearances are only one's own mind, if one has not gained realization from the ground, then when object and mind meet, it will not be liberated into a rootless and baseless state. Therefore, for the time being, one should train in not clinging to whatever arises from the six consciousnesses. Among them, the best is not to continue the first moment, the intermediate is not to continue the second moment, but to continuously maintain the mindfulness of recognizing one's own nature. Tilopa said, "Appearances do not bind, clinging binds. Naropa, cut off clinging!" In short, conceptual thought is the mind's own nature, like water and water waves, so it is impossible to be without conceptual thought. For conceptual thought, various appearances of objects such as forms appear, like a rainbow appearing on clear glass. Even if realization is high, it is impossible not to appear, but the key is whether or not one clings to and accepts conceptual thought and appearances. As long as one is not distracted and continuously recognizes one's own nature, then no matter how many conceptual thoughts and external appearances there are, they are called wisdom. If one does not recognize one's own nature, then non-conceptualization is only neutral.

Alas! What appears as conceptual thought is also the self-radiance of emptiness. Having realized the inseparability of appearance and emptiness, there is no need to eliminate conceptual thought. In the essence of emptiness, the radiance is unceasing, appearing vividly. This itself is self-knowing and self-illuminating. The so-called inseparability of generation and completion stages is just this. When practice harmonizes body and mind, it may stir up negative karma from past lives, causing physical illness and mental suffering, and other undesirable things. However, just as dirt rises when a vessel is cleaned, this is said to be a sign of purifying the lineage. Therefore, do not be deterred by adverse conditions in practice, but exert great effort. If qualities of the path arise, it will be difficult to distinguish whether they are genuine or obstacles from demons. Even if they are genuine, if attachment to superiority arises, it will immediately turn into an obstacle from demons. Therefore, do not be attached to the good, do not fear the bad, and abandon all hope and fear. Do not sit in high places, do not wear fine clothes, do not seek fine food, and do not delight in the praise and respect of others, for these are the causes of arrogance. If one can always maintain a humble position, there will be no cause for arrogance and jealousy to arise. Before arrogance arises, obstacles will not occur. Thinking that there is no one greater than the lama, and thinking that other monks do not know as much, etc., whenever arrogance arises, obstacles will occur. Therefore, one should constantly maintain devotion and pure perception. Even food that is too good is a cause of attachment and affliction, so eat only enough to not be hungry. Whether food and clothing are available or not, do not pretend to not need them. If they are not available, do not seek them out intentionally, but be content with what comes. Whatever material possessions come beyond what is needed to avoid hunger and cold, offer them to the lama, the Three Jewels. When making offerings, there is no difference between good and bad fields when cultivating the mind of enlightenment, but in the initial stages of practice, one should choose a good field of offering compared to a beginner. If there is no contentment with desires, then one may be called a practitioner in name only, but in reality, one is empty and without substance. Therefore, one should seek contentment in everything. A narrow mind is a cause of not being able to integrate with the Dharma, so one should constantly restrain the mind. Whatever arises in the mind, whether it is stability, movement, joy, or sorrow, let it run naturally in its own inherent state, without any cutting off, establishing, transforming, or changing. On this basis, recite scriptures. All actions such as walking, standing, sitting, and lying down are called spontaneously arising conduct.
