The traces of the Kagyu lineage's ocean of accomplished masters, the near path of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana, the profound generation and completion stages of the ocean of Anuttarayoga Tantras, and the meaning of entering the three-year, three-place retreat practice are as follows: The best is to have one's own mindstream ripened by the Dharma, enabling the liberation of others' mindstreams; the intermediate is to have one's own confidence in the generation and completion stages; the least is to have one's mind mingled with the Dharma, not deceiving oneself or others. This is absolutely necessary. Therefore, in this retreat room, the place is sacred and of utmost importance. The samaya between the lama and dharma friends is such that, for us, the lama, the virtuous friend, is actually performing the deeds of the Buddha. Even if a little disrespect arises, there will be many obstacles in this life, such as illness. Even if some qualities arise, they will not benefit oneself or others, and all undesirable things will occur. In the future, one will experience unbearable suffering in samsara, intense and prolonged, experiencing it in many lifetimes, as the scriptures say. Therefore, physically abandon disrespect towards the lama, and with respect, honor and serve, increasing it more and more. Verbally, even for the sake of joking, abandon faults such as criticizing the lama, and at all times and places, proclaim qualities and fame, increasing verbal respect more and more. Mentally, abandon doubts and wrong views about the lama's actions, and repeatedly think of the qualities and kindness, increasing boundless devotion more and more. In short, like the traditions of Jetsun Naropa and Jetsun Milarepa, and our precious Kagyu lineage, entrust your heart, essence, and blood to the lama, seeing everything they do as good, taking everything they say as truth, and making devotion alone the core of your practice. Similarly, the Vajra brothers and sisters who are connected to the Secret Mantra Vajrayana lama and the same mandala, from now until the Bodhi tree, vow to never separate, to practice together, and to attain enlightenment as a group. The samaya of Vajra brothers and sisters is extremely important, so from the beginning, do not enter into each other's territory, do not share food, etc., and do not be too intimate, as it will ultimately lead to quarrels. Do not joke or tease, as frivolity leads to downfall.

Partiality and hatred increase meaningless thoughts and afflictions in the human world. Do not support bad things with one backing two; the faults of bad friends lead to meaningless things. Do not contemplate the faults of others, but respect all with pure appearance. Do not follow the words of others, but maintain your own position. Reflect on your own faults and do not deceive yourself. In short, have unwavering faith and pure appearance in accordance with the words and thoughts of the lama and fellow practitioners, so that your own samaya is pure, this life and the next are auspicious, and you become an object of envy. You must make yourself happy. Furthermore, apart from the important public affairs arranged by the retreat master lama and the chant leader, such as the four daily sessions, the morning and evening gatherings, and various festival ceremonies, do not engage in too many personal affairs. Also, due to inherent laziness, using trivial matters as excuses to request leave from gatherings and sessions, that bad habit will constantly cause the practice and virtuous deeds in the retreat house to be affected, wasting time. Therefore, from the beginning, resolve to maintain gatherings and sessions without interruption through diligence, so that gradually good habits are formed, and there will be no negligence or difficulty in these matters. The practice and virtuous deeds will be well-organized, and your own mindstream will be rich with the fruits of Dharma and merit. From outside the retreat house, contact with parents, siblings, and other very important relatives should be limited to occasional contact at the door. Do not maintain frequent contact for all matters, whether important or not. That will affect your own virtuous deeds, and during this time of retreat, it will also invite evil spirits and obstacles. In short, from the beginning of the retreat, at all times and in all places, do not let the three doors of body, speech, and mind be uncontrolled, indifferent, or uncertain, not even for a moment. Carefully consider and analyze your own good and bad, and abandon all thoughts and actions that are harmful to yourself and others and are not in accordance with the Dharma. Learn things that are in accordance with the Dharma and are beneficial in the short and long term, and take control of your own destiny. Be of great benefit to yourself, and finally, after the retreat is completed, ripen and liberate your own mindstream through hearing, contemplation, and meditation, benefiting sentient beings and the Dharma.
