Just as it (the ocean) abides in itself and becomes the adornment of the ocean, these two (referring to the content being discussed here) also become the adornment of all disciples who are like oceans of intelligence. The second is to vow to compose the treatise, taking "to explain" as the basis. Where to explain? It is in this treasure of epistemology, the essence of the seven treatises and the scriptures, including the Sutras. With what kind of motivation to explain? It is motivated by the loving thought of wanting all disciples to understand all the intentions of the seven treatises as they are. Who is the object? It is for those who possess discriminating wisdom, are not jealous of good explanations, are fair-minded, pursue the true meaning of good explanations, and possess the qualities of the Tripitaka. Relying on what to explain? Relying on the wisdom that clearly sees the meaning of the seven treatises written by Dharmakirti, just as the clear eyes see objects. For what purpose to explain? Just like countless stars, even if they try to bloom lotuses and reveal the pistils, they cannot truly reveal the pistils as long as there is no sunlight. Although numerous scholars like stars have appeared in this snowy mountain, they have also tried to bloom the scriptures of glorious Dharmakirti like lotuses, and claimed to have revealed the meaning like pistils, however, as long as the light of the sun of Sakya Pandita's wisdom does not shine, the meaning of the seven treatises cannot be truly revealed like pistils, therefore, it is explained for the purpose of revealing these meanings. It is incorrect to add a prefix to the word "རྒྱས་". Secondly, summarizing the content to be explained includes two parts: determining the knowable from the general aspect, and determining the nature of valid cognition as the knower. The first part includes three aspects: the object of knowledge, the wisdom of cognition, and the way in which wisdom cognizes the object. The first aspect includes two parts: definition and classification. First, taking the dharma that can be known by wisdom as the subject, it is the definition of the object, because it can establish the meaning of negating its opposite. Among them, "negating the opposite" means negating what is not this, "meaning opposite" means negating the opposite of the expressed and the expresser, and "establishing" means the vague state of not distinguishing between the general meaning and the self-characteristic.

merely stating a little. The reversal of meaning is the general meaning, because those two are not separated, it is merely the swelling of the abdomen. Second, regarding the classification, there are three: refuting other's views, stating one's own view, and dispelling disputes. The first is divided into stating the commitment and refuting the commitment. The first is that Tibetans believe that the appearing object of conceptual thought is the general meaning, and the appearing object of non-conceptual delusion is the non-existent appearance. These two are respectively the grasping objects of the two minds. Moreover, if these two objects do not exist, delusion will become rootless, so they exist. Moreover, they arise from the power of self-awareness that grasps the two. Also, the general sound meaning of honoring the many Shravakas, etc., and the aggregate of formations that do not possess the image of the general meaning of characteristics, any one that is established as a real thing is taken as the grasping object, and from this, conceptual thought and the consciousness of dreams arise, they believe. If this is the case, the second is divided into two. First, the detailed explanation of refutation is divided into two: becoming a fault of the mind not being deluded, and becoming a fault of the object being able to appear. The first is divided into: establishing the fault, and refuting the exemption. The first is: the two minds that grasp these two objects, conceptual thought and non-conceptual delusion, have the fault of contradicting delusion, because they are minds that have a grasping object. For example, like the eye consciousness that grasps a pot. The second is: if it is said that the pervasion is not established, even if there is a grasping object, those two do not contradict delusion, like grasping a rope as a snake, and grasping a rag as silver. That is unreasonable, is it referring to the eye consciousness that grasps the pattern of the rope? Or is it referring to the mind that thinks the pattern of the rope is a snake? If it is the former, then the eye consciousness that grasps the pattern of the rope is not a delusion, because it has its own grasping object. If it is the latter, then the mind that thinks the rope is a snake is a delusion, because its own grasping object does not exist in meaning, so it is for this reason. The second is also divided into: establishing the fault, and refuting the exemption. The first is: the appearing objects of the two consciousnesses, the general meaning and the non-existent appearance, not only can be seen by oneself, but also others who live nearby in the same appearing object can see them as one sees them, because they are grasping objects that are separate from one's own object consciousness, so it is for this reason. Like everything, such as pots, can be seen. Condi
