is to despise with the mind. The fourth is regarding the Vajra Master, either despising without knowing that despising the master will cause a root downfall, or knowing but not respecting, or respecting but not guarding with mindfulness and being negligent, or although being cautious, being involuntarily contemptuous due to the power of strong afflictions. The fifth is that the Vajra Master himself knows that he has been despised and is slightly displeased. As it is said in the Tantra of the First Supreme One: "Causing displeasure to the glorious Lama, one will become a holder of rabbits." Therefore, the third reason for becoming a downfall is because of the promise made at the time of empowerment. From now on, I am your glorious Heruka. You must do as I command. Do not despise me either. If you do, you will die without abandoning suffering, and you will fall into the great hell of sentient beings. In the context of the vow of Akshobhya, it is said, "The teachers should also be upheld." And in the context of the vow of Vairochana, because the Three Jewels are upheld, the Lama is included within the Three Jewels. Fourth, one should contemplate the Vajra Master as the Yidam deity who grants accomplishments, as the great hero and commander who overcomes unfavorable forces, as the boatman who ferries beings across the river, as the great physician who heals diseases, and as oneself being the one who requests accomplishments, and so on. Fifth, there are two methods: how to rise from a downfall when the limbs are incomplete, and how to retake it when the limbs are complete. First, for the case of incomplete limbs, there are the four powers, the four limbs of the Vajra Samaya's approach and accomplishment, and confession through other means. First, there are four powers: the power of reliance, the power of repudiation, the power of the antidote of all-encompassing action, and the power of restoring faults. First, one sits upright in front of oneself as the Vajra Master, or any Vajra brother who practices the same. Please listen, venerable one, this Vidyadhara so-and-so, has committed this downfall called so-and-so. Therefore, I confess and repent before you. I do not conceal, I do not hide. From now on, I will also cut off and guard.

I confess. If I confess and repent in this way, I will attain happiness. If I do not confess and repent, it will not be so. Does the other person see the fault as a fault? I answer: Yes, I see it. Does the other person keep the vows from now on as instructed by Vajradhara? I answer: Yes, I keep them. The other person says again: This is a method. I answer: Excellent. Repeat this three times. Secondly, confess the past misdeeds with intense remorse, as if drinking poison. Thirdly, from now on, even if it costs my life, I will not commit such misdeeds, and confess with intense determination to restrain myself. Fourthly, relying on these methods, contemplate with joy that the past misdeeds have been purified. The second is to confess through the four branches of recitation and accomplishment of the Samaya Vajra: recitation, near recitation, accomplishment, and great accomplishment. The first is to generate the Samaya being. The second is to contemplate the syllables of body, speech, and mind. The third is to invite and absorb the wisdom being. The fourth is to contemplate having the self-arisen crown ornament even without empowerment. When reciting these words, insert the crown ornament called "Meaningful Accomplishment" here. Recite mantras, etc. The meaning of these is that on the crown of oneself, visualized as the deity, on top of the mandala of lotus, moon, and sun. From (Tibetan: ཁཾ་) Kham arises a green sword marked with (Tibetan: ཁཾ་) Kham, from which rays of light radiate, gather, and completely transform. The Samaya Vajra is green in color, with one face and two arms. The right hand holds a sword, and the left hand holds a bell made from the hilt of the sword. He wears a silk lower garment. In his lap is the consort, Samaya Tara, green in color, holding a curved knife in her right hand and a skull cup in her left, embracing her father. Both are adorned with bone ornaments and jewels. Their faces are slightly wrathful, yet possess a peaceful demeanor. They have a moon backdrop and wear the crown ornament of Meaningful Accomplishment. On the foreheads of the two are (Tibetan, Devanagari: ओम्, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal meaning: Om), on their throats are (Tibetan, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal meaning: Ah), and on their hearts are (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum). From (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ) Hum, light radiates, inviting all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, who all transform into the form of Samaya Vajra father and mother. (Tibetan: བཛྲ་ས་མ་ཛཱ།, Devanagari: वज्रसमजा, Romanized Sanskrit: vajrasamaja, Literal meaning: Vajra Samaja). (Tibetan: ཛཿཧཱུྃ་བྃ་ཧོཿ, Devanagari: जः हुं बं होः, Romanized Sanskrit: jaḥ hūṃ baṃ hoḥ, Literal meaning: Dza Hum Bam Hoh) Become inseparable. In his heart, on top of the sun disc, is (Tibetan: ཁཾ་) Kham.
