Due to the cessation of ignorance caused by abandonment through meditation, the subsequent limbs that arise do not cease. However, after the final moment of the path of meditation destroys the ignorance to be abandoned through meditation, the subsequent limbs that arise due to the ignorance to be abandoned through meditation also do not arise, it should be known. When the bodhisattva attains the path of seeing, all the previously abandoned through seeing and the ignorance to be abandoned through meditation cease simultaneously, thus abandoning birth and death due to the power of karma and afflictions. This has been stated in authoritative texts such as the Ratnagotravibhāga, and has already been explained elsewhere. Secondly, although the śrāvaka, pratyekabuddha arhats, and noble bodhisattvas do not have the twelve limbs of contaminated existence in their continuums, they do have similar aspects of the twelve limbs arising from the seed of ignorance's habitual tendencies and uncontaminated karma, which do not cease until buddhahood is attained, because the seed of ignorance's habitual tendencies has not been abandoned. How is this known? The Ratnagotravibhāga states: "For those beings, there is the mind-made body arising from the seed of ignorance's habitual tendencies and uncontaminated karma, as well as the aging of uncontaminated manifest activity, the disease of subtle habitual tendencies, and the death that transforms in an inconceivable way. The Buddhas, the noble ones, have abandoned these four, thus attaining permanence, purity, etc." Just as ordinary beings and śrāvaka trainees have the four, birth, aging, sickness, and death, due to the power of karma and afflictions, so too do śrāvaka, pratyekabuddha arhats, and noble bodhisattvas have birth, aging, sickness, and death arising from the seed of ignorance's habitual tendencies and uncontaminated karma. Therefore, this aspect of the twelve limbs is also very much present. So, what are those twelve limbs? And when is the time of their cessation? Firstly, the seed of ignorance's habitual tendencies is that ignorance. Uncontaminated karma is action. The virtuous roots and corresponding afflictions that desire to take birth in saṃsāra for the sake of others are the three, craving, grasping, and becoming. From that, the formation of the mind-made body from name and form up to feeling is the birth of the mind-made body. The cessation of that very moment before and the arising of the moment after is action, and the death that transforms in an inconceivable way is birth and old age. Secondly, the time of cessation is like the vajra-like samādhi of the ultimate continuum.

When the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies are destroyed by Samadhi, the ground of the habitual tendencies of ignorance collapses. When that collapses, all subsequent limbs collapse, and the four noble perfections are attained. Third, showing that the way of understanding dependent origination is particularly superior to the lower philosophical systems: Outsiders do not accept dependent origination, because some claim that there is a creator such as the chief and the powerful, some claim that there is a permanent cause, and some claim that there is no cause. All followers of this Dharma accept dependent origination. As it says in the Letter to a Friend: 'This dependent origination is the Victorious One, the profound essence of the treasury of speech.' Because dependent origination is said to be the profound essence of the treasury of speech of the Thus-Gone One. However, not everyone understands the meaning of dependent origination correctly. For example, there are two types of dependent origination: dependent origination that distinguishes self-nature, and dependent origination that distinguishes between pleasant and unpleasant migrations. The first is the way in which all external and internal things arise from what cause and what condition. The second is the way in which the objects of the six internal sense bases revolve in the five migrations from what cause and what condition. The outsiders are ignorant of both of these. The two Hearer schools are ignorant of the first, because they accept that external objects are made of atoms, and that internal sense bases arise from the cause of previous actions, etc., which cannot withstand rational scrutiny. From the point of view of accepting the arising of actions from the condition of ignorance, etc., they are not ignorant of the second dependent origination, but the Vaibhashikas establish all twelve limbs in the stages of the aggregates of the three times, etc., so there are also inverted cognitions, so it is not understood correctly in all aspects. The Mind-Only practitioners abandon the reason for how external and internal objects appear, and accept that everything arises from the truly established Alaya consciousness, so they do not understand dependent origination correctly, and even if they only accept the term of negating the four extremes of birth, they actually negate the meaning.
