Because it explains without relying on others, it is known as the founder of two chariots. Others explain by following their explanations, so they are not separate founders of chariots. It is not right to consider them separate founders of chariots just because the methods of explanation are different. Secondly, some say that the words of an author who explains the meaning of the Buddha's words with an undistracted mind and is in accordance with the path to liberation; some say that the words of an author who mainly focuses on the meaning of the scriptures and explains the meaning of the Buddha's words are liberation, and so on; still others say that the words of a qualified author who explains the meaning of the Buddha's words are in accordance with the path to liberation; still others say that pure words that possess the two qualities of Dharma protectors; still others say that continuous words composed to show one's own intentions to others are considered to be the characteristics of treatises. If this is the case, then in the first four cases, non-Buddhist treatises, have the property. Reason: Because they conform to that characteristic. If it is said that those are the characteristics of pure treatises, then in the first case, the commentary on the Meaningful Explanation, has the property. Reason: Because it conforms to the first characteristic. It cannot be accepted, because the author is not a sentient being with an undistracted mind, because you would say that the author is an ordinary person, and there would be a fault. However, the latter is not pervasive, because in the Ratnagotravibhāga, the meaning of "sentient being with an undistracted mind" is stated in the Compendium of

Because of composing treatises. If you accept, then it should be uncomprehending. What is the acceptance of the later refutation? Because the teacher Simhabhadra composed a treatise without comprehending the selflessness of phenomena of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Regarding the fourth definition, the Eight Thousand Verses is the subject. It should follow, because of that definition. Regarding the fifth, it should follow that speech has permanence. Because that is its definition. If you accept, speech is the subject. It should follow that you do not have permanence, because you are sound. To that, someone says, sound has permanence, because there are long letters and very long letters, etc. Then, saying that sound does not have permanence refers only to short permanence. Then, if it is sound, it does not pervade short permanence, because there are very long letters. It should follow that sound has long permanence, because as long as there is water, there is the sound of water. Both pervasions are accepted. If you say that the later pervasion is not the same, because each moment of the sound of water also arises from its own proximate cause, water. Then, if there are long letters and very long letters, it does not pervade that sound has permanence, because each moment of the letter also arises from its own proximate cause, the tongue and palate. Therefore, the meaning of sound not having permanence is that the previous moment of sound does not produce the next moment, but each moment also arises from its own cause, like a drum. One's own system is that the collection of many names, words, and letters combined for the purpose of showing tenets is the general definition of a treatise, and that pure definition is the speech that explains the meaning of the Buddha's words as a method for attaining liberation by an author who is a non-distracted mind after the Buddha's passing into nirvana. On the third aspect, some say that the great treatise mentioned here can only be the Sutra, because that Manifest Realization Ornament is not combined with treatises, but is only a commentary on the Sutra. Some say that both the Sutra and the treatise can be, because that Manifest Realization Ornament is a commentary on both the Sutra and the treatise. Some say that the intention of the Ṭīkā (Sanskrit, ṭīkā, commentary) can also be both the Sutra and the treatise, because in the Ṭīkā (Sanskrit, ṭīkā, commentary) it says, who made it? It says that the great treatise Manifest Realization Ornament is together with the Sutra. Regarding the first aspect, before finding all the treatises,
