It is. The scripture says, "Mistake and conventional knowledge, as well as inference and that arising from inference, memory and manifest desire." Among the six kinds of knowledge mentioned, mistaken knowledge is like the thought of mistaking a mirage for water, or a patterned rope for a snake. Conventional knowledge is like the conceptualization that clings to the universal of a cow. Inference and that arising from inference are considered in terms of relying on a sign. The former is the mind that clings to the sign, and the latter is the inference that possesses the sign, as stated by Gyalwang Rinpoche. Memory and manifest desire are considered in terms of not relying on a sign. The former is the memory-knowledge that remembers past events, and the latter is the thought that manifestly desires future events. The way that Pelden Drakpa summarized these into three is that conventional knowledge is said to be conceptualization that relies on symbols; mistaken knowledge is said to be conceptualization that attributes meaning to other things; and the latter four are said to be conceptualization with hidden meanings. The necessity of showing these as appearing like direct perception is because the former two are considered by logicians to be sense consciousness, and there is a mistaken notion, so it is shown to eliminate it. The latter four are not direct perception, and even outsiders acknowledge it. But the former two are to establish similar examples of not being sense consciousness, to prove the meaning of not being born from the senses. "To prove that it is not born from the senses, it is said that two kinds of mistaken appearances are seen." So it is said. Secondly, there are two kinds: ascertainment and superimposition, which have been discussed earlier. Thirdly, the earlier scholars divided it into three: clinging to the sound universal alone, clinging to the meaning universal alone, and clinging to both the sound universal and the meaning universal. The first is like the conceptualization in the mindstream of a person unfamiliar with terminology, which clings to the sound universal. The second is like the conceptualization in his mindstream, which clings to the meaning universal. The third is like the conceptualization in the mindstream of an elderly person familiar with terminology. Although it is said this way, if these are conceptualizations, then they cannot cover the case of clinging to a mixture of sound and meaning, so it has already been refuted. Therefore, if we distinguish from the perspective of the object of appearance, like the inference that recognizes sound as impermanent, it is the wisdom that eliminates others, being non-inverted and non-inverted; like the conceptualization that clings to sound as permanent, it is the wisdom that eliminates others, being inverted.

It can be divided into four types. The fourth type consists of four kinds of conceptualizations: grasping one as one, grasping different as different, dividing one into different, and combining different into one. These have already been discussed in the context of exclusion. The fifth type consists of two kinds of conceptualizations: meaning-combining conceptualization and sound-combining conceptualization. The first is to grasp by combining the differential basis and the differential property, such as the thought that "this person has a stick." Among these, there are two types of conceptualizations: conceptualizations that combine genus, etc., and conceptualizations of relationship. The first is like "difference and the basis of difference," etc., and the latter is like what is said in the context of "sense consciousness has no combined grasping," etc. The second is to grasp by combining the name of conventional time and the meaning referred to by the term, such as what is said in the context of "caused by the remembrance of terms," etc. Second, regarding non-conceptual appearing-like-perception, there are two: explaining the way of explanation of one's own system and refuting the way of explanation of other systems. The first, the definition is: a non-conceptual erroneous consciousness. The classification includes two types: sense consciousness error and mind consciousness error. The first is like the sense consciousness of seeing hairs, etc., in a dazzling state, which is indicated by "appearing-like-perception and dizziness." The second is like the consciousness of a clear appearance in a dream, which is indicated by "when sleeping or awake, any mind that appears clearly." Furthermore, according to the way in which mind consciousness arises, if the sense consciousness of the appearance of two moons in the first moment acts as the immediately preceding condition and the dominant condition, and at the same time, one moon acts as the objective condition, then it must be admitted that the mind consciousness of the appearance of two moons will arise. The second is that some commentators on the sutras believe that "appearing-like-perception and dizziness" does not refer to non-conceptual appearing-like-perception, because "consciousness free from conceptualization is perception," so the consciousness free from conceptualization is said to be the definition of perception. Therefore, that treatise believes that the consciousness of the clear appearance of two moons and hairs, etc., is mind consciousness conceptualization, so it refers to conceptual appearing-like-perception, but the necessity of distinguishing conceptualization from appearing-like-perception is that because these are consciousnesses of clear appearance, it is to eliminate the misconception that they are non-conceptual. In order to refute this view, the following will quote the scriptures.
