As stated, the causes of confusion such as faculties, objects, and actions do not give rise to confusion. Then, conceptualization would also not be confused, because those causes of confusion do not give rise to confusion? That is not established, from the "etc." in "confusion, etc.," (Tibetan) ཐོག་མེད་བག་ཆགས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི། །རྣམ་པར་རྟོག་པས་ཡོངས་བསྒྲུབ་པ། ། (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Literal Chinese Meaning) and (Tibetan) གང་དེ་འཁྲུལ་པ་ཐོག་མེད་པའི། །དུས་ཅན་མཐོང་གོམས་ཀྱིས་སྤྲུལ་ཡིན། ། (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Literal Chinese Meaning) the cause of confusion mentioned at that time is what leads to it. Third, do both being free from conceptualization and being non-erroneous also need to eliminate dissimilar classes? Or is it considered from the perspective of eliminating wrong conceptualizations? Some say that both are considered from the perspective of eliminating dissimilar classes, but this is not reasonable, because if it is conceptualization, it must be an erroneous consciousness. Therefore, in reality, although a non-erroneous consciousness can eliminate all dissimilar classes, mentioning being free from conceptualization is to refute the wrong conceptualizations of the Carvakas and Vaisheshikas, etc., who believe that sense consciousnesses have conceptualization but are not erroneous, and some who think that not being erroneous about the object of engagement also establishes being erroneous, so inference is also not erroneous. Then, the Mind-Only school believes that all directly perceived sense consciousnesses arise as confused appearances of dualistic grasping due to the power of beginningless habitual tendencies, so they do not accept that directly perceived sense consciousnesses are non-erroneous. If so, is the consciousness that is free from conceptualization and non-erroneous not accepted as the definition of direct perception? In response to this, some believe that this definition is only for the Sautrantika school, and some believe that although they accept this definition, the meaning of non-erroneous is applied to the mind that arises from firm habitual tendencies, so there is no fault, and some believe that although they accept this definition, all directly perceived sense consciousnesses are erroneous, so they are not direct perception. Among these three, the first is not reasonable, because in the Mind-Only system, the definition of direct perception is not separately stated. The second is also not reasonable, because whether habitual tendencies are firm or not is a nominal establishment of truth and falsehood and valid and invalid cognition, not from the perspective of ultimate truth, otherwise inference itself would also be due to firm habitual tendencies.

Because it must be admitted to be mistaken, it is contradictory. The third is also unreasonable, because in the view of the Mind-Only school, for the sense consciousness that observes outward, it must be admitted that the self-awareness part that appears in it is direct perception. Therefore, Jamyang Lama's view is that even if such a definition is admitted in the Mind-Only school, the meaning of non-erroneous is not admitted. As it is said in the 'Commentary on the Treasury of Reasoning': 'Some people think that like the tenets of the Mind-Only school, it is non-deceptive,' therefore, taking non-deception as the meaning of non-erroneous is established in the Mind-Only school. If so, then inference will also become non-erroneous, because it is non-deceptive. If asked, the non-deception of the object of measurement that is different in substance from the knowledge itself is not an established reason, and the non-error of the object of measurement that has become one's own substance will become self-awareness direct perception, where will there be fault? This is not the same as the view of the Sutra school, because the Sutra school also considers inference to be valid for external objects. Those who are fortunate, think well! Do not be afraid of the mouths of the unfortunate. Second, there are five divisions of what is to be expressed: the basis from which to divide, the nature of what is divided, the reason for dividing, the meaning of how to divide, and the definite number of divisions. The first is: merely non-erroneous knowledge. The second is: sense direct perception, mental direct perception, self-awareness direct perception, and yogic direct perception, which are four. The third is: from the perspective of the object, knowing other objects is the two direct perceptions of object consciousness, knowing one's own object is the direct perception of self-awareness, and knowing without self and other is yogic direct perception. From the perspective of the basis, relying on the senses is the two object consciousnesses, relying only on others is self-awareness, and relying on samadhi is yogic direct perception. From the perspective of the person, there are two types of direct perception: that of ordinary beings and that of noble ones. The fourth is: it is not a difference that negates sameness, because all four are things. Nor is it merely the same nature with different reverses, because the other three direct perceptions are different substances. Nor are they different substances, because the other three direct perceptions are the same nature as self-awareness direct perception. Therefore, the other three direct perceptions are different substances, and these three are the same nature as self-awareness direct perception, but they are different from the perspective of the object.
