Although there are differences in nomenclature, it is difficult to establish differences in characteristics. Therefore, the object of conceptualization appearing as an external object is falsely imputed and obscures the seeing of reality, hence it is conventional truth. Without false imputation, the sole nature of the object itself producing results, without confusion for the subject, is ultimate truth. Regarding this, from the perspective of falsely imputing without establishing reality, it is imputed existence. From the perspective of being established as enduring rational analysis, it is substantial existence. Regarding this, that which commonly follows in many appearances is the general characteristic, and one's own nature appears without being mixed with the uncommon, hence it is considered the specific characteristic. Therefore, being able to truly perform a function is the characteristic of ultimate truth, and the dharma that cannot truly perform a function is the characteristic of conventional truth. Those who say, "What is it that can function in the ultimate sense?" have not explained the distinction between the two truths, which is nonsense. Because in the previous commentary, Yamaari says, "Incidentally, in order to explain the distinction between the two truths of the inferior vehicle," which is consistent with the Treasury of Knowledge, "What is destroyed and different by wisdom," etc., and because there are no other schools besides the four schools for determining the scriptures of the Sugata. Coarse, constant, and general characteristics are all conventional truths, and meaning, knowledge, and partless particles are all ultimate truths, which is the view of the great Bodhisattvas with the Dharma Eye who speak of Sutra-Mind. Some divide the perfectly established into immutable perfectly established and non-inverted perfectly established, and consider the immutable perfectly established, the suchness empty of grasper and grasped, to be the ultimate truth. Although it is reasonable to mix this view with other Mind-Only treatises, there is no necessity to mix them, because here, when seeing blue, seeing the three of the place of origin, dwelling, and destruction of blue is the object of eye consciousness, the sense-sphere of form, while other schools consider it the object of mind consciousness, the sense-sphere of dharma, which is similar. Therefore, great scholars consider Mind-Only to be divided into Reason-Following Mind-Only and Scripture-Following Mind-Only. For the former, if it is ultimate truth, it is pervaded by being able to function in the ultimate sense; otherwise, for the measurable

If it is thought that this would lead to the number not being determined as two, and if the self-characteristic is that which has function, then this is not pervasive, so it is unreasonable. Regarding this, if it is thought that without attaching anything, the sole self-nature that produces its own result from the thing itself is the ultimate truth in the view of both the Sutra and Mind-Only schools, this is unreasonable. If according to the Mind-Only school, it is the ultimate truth, then this is not pervasive. If it is the ultimate truth, then this is also not pervasive, because the first is not established. If only the knowledge obscuration of dualistic appearance of grasper and grasped is, then this has fault, because it is knowledge. It cannot be thought so, because it is to be abandoned through the practice of the path. If the second is not established, then it cannot be determined as the suchness of emptiness of grasper and grasped. According to the Mind-Only school, if it is thought that having function in the ultimate sense is the definition of the ultimate truth, then this is also refuted by the same reasoning. According to the Mind-Only school, if it is thought that only the indivisible momentary consciousness is the ultimate truth, this is also unreasonable, because if it is so, then this is not pervasive of the ultimate truth, and if it is the ultimate truth, then this is also not pervasive, because the first is not established. It cannot be determined by the knowledge included by other-powered, if the second is not established, then it cannot be determined as the suchness of emptiness of grasper and grasped. If asked what is the ultimate function, then it is also unreasonable to think that this shows the definition of the two truths that are commonly accepted by both the Sutra and Mind-Only schools, because you also accept the view stated by Yamari. If it is thought that the Mind-Only school that follows reasoning does not accept the suchness of emptiness of grasper and grasped as the ultimate truth, this is also unreasonable, because in this text it says: "Therefore, whatever is emptiness of two, that is its suchness." If it is said that this only shows the reality of things, but does not show the ultimate truth, then this is very unreasonable, because in any of the four tenets of the schools, if the ultimate reality of things is an established dharma, then it must be the ultimate truth. According to their view, if it is the ultimate truth, then there is also no fault of the measurable being the self-characteristic and the general characteristic, the number being uncertain, because according to their view, the suchness of emptiness of two is the self-characteristic of knowledge, because the noble Nagarjuna
