The distinction into two: distinguishing between self and general characteristics through the mode of entry, ultimately gathering the object to be measured into one self-characteristic. The first has three aspects: examining which phenomena become the four objects, examining which possessors have the four objects, and the individual nature of each of the four objects. The first is: all phenomena, in dependence on the individual minds of the possessors, become the three: appearing object, object of attachment, and entering object. The object of apprehension is only applied to the five external sense bases according to the Sutra School, while the Mind-Only School does not have the establishment of an object of apprehension. The second is: all non-conceptual, non-erroneous consciousnesses have an appearing object, while non-conceptual erroneous consciousnesses do not have an appearing object. All conceptualizations have an appearing object. The object of apprehension is only present in the two, sense-direct perception and meaning-direct perception. The object of attachment is present in all conceptualizations that accord with meaning. The entering object is present in valid cognition, expressive sounds that accord with meaning, and individuals. The third has four: appearing object, object of apprehension, object of attachment, and entering object. The first has two aspects: definition and division. The definition is: the object that appears through the way it bestows an image, or the object that directly appears without an image. The division has two: the appearing object of non-conceptual consciousness and the appearing object of conceptual consciousness. The first has two: becoming an appearing object through bestowing an image, and becoming an appearing object without bestowing an image. The first is like the apprehended object of sense-direct perception and meaning-direct perception. The second is like the object to be experienced by self-awareness direct perception. The appearing object of conceptual consciousness is like a general meaning. Alternatively, the appearing object that is one of the four objects is not a different substance from the consciousness of the possessor, and it is established as the object to be experienced by self-awareness direct perception that appears simultaneously, the clear absence that directly appears to non-conceptual mistaken consciousness, and the general meaning that directly appears to conceptual consciousness. The intermediate one, although it is the appearing object of that consciousness, is not generally an appearing object. Is this the intention of the Treasury of Reasoning? It needs to be examined. The definition of the second is: for self-grasping direct perception, it is the external object that directly bestows an image similar to itself. The division: from the perspective of the possessor, there are the apprehended object of sense-direct perception and the apprehended object of mental direct perception. From the perspective of the object, there are the five: form, sound, smell, taste, and tactile object.

The third definition is: the object of attachment that is mainly based on self-grasping and is recognized by clinging. If classified, there are two types: the object of attachment of valid cognition and the object of attachment of decisive knowledge. The first is: the objects of valid inference, etc. The second is: the object of attachment of decisive knowledge that is transformed by the object of the two valid cognitions themselves. The fourth definition is: the main part of the object that is the basis for the arising of the function of the object-possessor conforming to the meaning. If classified from the perspective of the object-possessor, there are three types as before. The first, the object of valid cognition, has two types: the object of direct perception and the object of inference. In the first, in terms of the object of sense direct perception, it is the self-characterized object of the external world; in terms of the object of self-awareness direct perception, it is the self-characterized consciousness; in terms of the object of yogic direct perception, according to the Sautrāntika school, it is the self-characterized aggregates distinguished by selflessness; according to the Yogācāra school, it is the nature of phenomena, etc. The object of inference is established on the probandum of the correct reason. The object of sound is like the self-characterized ox being the object of the sound "ox" conforming to the meaning. The second, from the perspective of essence, is divided into the two truths. Among them, the Vaibhāṣika school believes that if one decomposes or analyzes with wisdom, and no clinging to it arises, then this is the definition of conventional truth. For example, when decomposed, no clinging to it arises, like a vase, etc.; when the eight subtle particles are separated one by one with wisdom, no clinging to it arises, like the water famous in the world, etc. If one decomposes or analyzes with wisdom, and clinging to it arises, then this is the definition of ultimate truth. For example, the sense-sphere of form, etc., they think so. As it is said in the Abhidharmakośa: "What is decomposed and, analyzed by wisdom, then that is without, that consciousness does not arise, like a vase and water, conventional, the other is ultimate." Because of this reason. The Sautrāntika school believes that in the ultimate, the two phenomena that can function and cannot function are the definitions of these two phenomena. Because it is said, "What is the ultimate that can function?" etc. The Yogācāra school believes that the definition of conventional truth is that which, when directly focused on, easily increases afflictions; the definition of ultimate truth is that which, when directly focused on, is pervasive with the increase of purification. As it is said in the Compendium of Abhidharma:
