To make a vow, and in general, the categories of reasoning are three: upper, middle, and lower. ...... (Sound, subject, is permanent, because it is knowable. The similar instance definitely exists on a pot. The dissimilar instance definitely does not exist in space.) (Sound, subject, arises from effort, because it is impermanent. The dissimilar instance definitely does not exist in space.) (Sound, subject, is permanent, because it is not tangible. The similar instance is partially present on space and atoms, respectively. The dissimilar instance is partially present on body and pot, respectively.) Division. This is an explanation of the division of the subject with properties. The first is, "The one who destroys the net of delusion," etc., is one verse. The second is, "For that which is to be inferred," etc., are five lines. In general, just stating as a sign, regarding the subject of dispute, whether it exists, does not exist, both, or three, the first, having the subject with properties, and the latter two together with two doubts, is established as unproven. The third has two, from the perspective of certainty, and from the perspective of doubt. The first has three, the way of dividing into nine, drawing a wheel to identify the types of signs, and identifying the meaning of the combination. The first is, "The unproven combination is just like that," etc., are five lines, the subject with properti

Regarding the reasoning of "na," there are three types: existent in the similar class, non-existent, and both existent and non-existent. Each of these also has three types in the dissimilar class: existent, non-existent, and both. Thus, the division becomes nine types. As stated in the Pramāṇavārttika, "The property of the subject, existent and non-existent in the similar class, and each of the two, also three in the dissimilar class, because of the two aspects of existent and non-existent." This is how it is said. Second, "Both above and below are correctly situated," etc., is one verse. After drawing a wheel with nine rings, the three at the top are the three that exist in the similar class, the three in the middle are the three that do not exist in the similar class, and the three at the bottom are the three that are both existent and non-existent in the similar class. When viewed in this way, the images of these will naturally appear. Third, there are four: identifying the nine reasons, identifying the nine propositions to be established, the way of combining with the dissimilar class, and identifying the similar and dissimilar classes. First, "Measurable, created, and impermanent," etc., is one verse. The first three are the three that exist in the similar class, the middle three are the three that do not exist in the similar class, and the last three are the three that are both existent and non-existent in the similar class. It should be understood that the same applies to the following. Second, "Permanent, impermanent, produced by effort," etc., is one verse. Considering that the subject is easy to understand, it is not explicitly stated. Third, "Above and below, combine separately with the dissimilar," etc., are two verses. Fourth, "The nine types of the wheel of signs," etc., are three and a half verses. It will become known by seeing the wheel. Second, the way to be doubtful is, "Because of doubt," etc., are three lines. Third, there are four: the necessity of mentioning the nine signs, the reason for not showing the unestablished in the case of the apparent, the reason for not showing the unobserved reason in the case of the correct, and analyzing the doubt about the uncertain, which is both in both cases. First, in the Pramāṇasūtra it says, "Because the reasons and, most of what appears there is the property of the subject, therefore, before the meaning of the reasons, etc., its distinction should be shown." And, in the Pramāṇavārttika it says, "For the sake of easy grasping." And, in the Pramāṇavārttika it says, "The meaning of thoroughly distinguishing the reasons." etc., is one verse.
