Compiling the series of "not being able to be an antidote" for being weary of samsara, as well as the rituals spoken of in the scriptures, and the methods of exhausting karma and body, there are two situations in which the antidote is established. Each of these two situations has its own refutation of other views for the specific situation. If these are not distinguished, but only the superficial meaning is practiced, and it is insisted that this treatise be emphasized as a work of contention. I, through the blessings and good teachings of Sakya Pandita, do not have the burden of being confused about the key points of logic. Third, apart from these, there are four situations in which karma and body have no antidote: abandoning karma and body has no necessary ability; denying the existence of an antidote to exhaust karma; eliminating views that contradict the desire to exhaust karma; eliminating the view that karma and afflictions have similar cause and effect. The first point is: Just as the antidote to abandon afflictions is the path, the antidote to abandon karma and body should also be the path, because karma, body, and afflictions are all causes of arising. If one thinks this way, then the seeker of liberation does not only abandon karma and body, because there is no antidote that only abandons these two, and without abandoning craving, there is no ability to abandon these two. The reason is established, because if craving exists, karma and body will arise again. If one thinks that one should strive to exhaust both craving and karma, then the seeker of liberation, even if one strives to exhaust both craving and karma, the effort made to exhaust karma is meaningless, because abandoning craving will not produce karma. The second point is: Because there is no antidote, the reason of "no antidote" is not established, because asceticism can exhaust the power of previous karma. If one thinks this way, then contaminated karmas can be inferred to have different abilities to produce different fruits, because one sees various different fruits being produced. Therefore, the affliction of asceticism, that is, the object of suffering, you alone cannot exhaust all karmas, because some of your similar types, such as hunger, will have a smaller fruit produced, while the fruit of karma that produces suffering of dissimilar types will not even become smaller. If the power of asceticism mixes all the powers of karma together, then it

If it is said that experiencing one suffering or one asceticism can exhaust (karma), then asceticism, the afflictions that you possess, which are part of suffering, like plucking hair, will abandon all karma? Or will it completely abandon without relying on afflictions, which are suffering? Because you have mixed all the power of karma together, and then exhaust it with one suffering or one asceticism, what is the reason for this? Because you think that afflictions are different from suffering. If this is not established, if afflictions are suffering itself, then asceticism, which you possess, this cannot mix and exhaust all the power of karma, etc., because it is the result of bad karma. Third, if you also think that by realizing selflessness, even its result, karma, will be exhausted, then why is there no antidote to exhaust karma? The path of realizing selflessness, which you possess, is the method of preventing all faults and desires, because the fault of wanting to generate later desires from previous desires in the future is because the seeds of later desires have been destroyed. Therefore, the path of realizing selflessness, which you possess, is able to destroy the karma generated by later desires, but how can it make the fruit of the karma that has already been done disappear? It cannot disappear. Because the karma created by desire will surely produce results. Fourth, just as karma arises from afflictions, so if there are afflictions, one cannot be liberated, and just as afflictions also arise from karma, so if there is karma, one cannot be liberated, is that so? The karma that has eliminated afflictions, which you possess, will not produce faulty afflictions from you, because you have no afflictions. This is pervasive, if one has faulty afflictions, one will create karma, conversely, not having faulty afflictions will not produce karma and afflictions. If this is not established, happiness and suffering arise from good and bad karma, and from that, attachment and aversion arise, is that so? The person who has abandoned the view of self, which you possess, will not generate desire and hatred, etc., even from happiness and suffering, because there is no inverted discrimination that clings to self and what belongs to self. Second, the way to establish the Sugata from that is, the protector who truly proclaims the Four Noble Truths, which you possess, is used as a subject.
