Except for amusement. How could such a wonderful thing happen? Thinking like this, again, towards one's own Kagyu lineage and root guru, an unwavering ocean of faith, immeasurable, unfathomable, untouched by time, will surge forth, which is the nature of dependent origination! Considering such a key point, Nyemo Wangchuk Gyaltsen said: Having found the wish-fulfilling jewel, discard the peach pit; having found the nectar of the gods, discard the bad food; having found the peerless lord, discard other protectors; having found the Buddha in the mind, discard other dharmas. As it is said, from the path of liberation and the sole individual, one should also combine other suffering beings, such as one's kind mother, and practice accordingly! 111 Also, it was said like this: When asking Geshe Gonpawa for instructions, Geshe Gonpawa said: If you ask me for meditation, then discard all the teachings of study and meditation from the past as if wiping a conch shell. If the mind goes towards the cause of liberation, and the inverted mind does not change, then even if one verbally says that one is practicing my teachings, one will not be able to walk on the path of Dharma. If the guru's instructions hit the mark, then a state will arise that is not mixed with sectarianism and mind. Then I will teach you meditation. First, focus your mind on a single point and meditate. As it was said, when meditating like this, the patron, when meditating, because the mind did not grasp wisdom, asked other Geshes for similar methods, which slightly helped to grasp the mind. Afterwards, he said to Gonpawa: I was thinking of asking other Geshes for some similar methods, what do you think? Gonpawa said: There is no need to ask others for similar methods. If you listen to me, then meditate. After nine months, the meditation progressed. The patron again said to Geshe Gonpawa: I feel that I have a little grasp inside. Gonpawa said: Your meditation is like entering the hole of a spear tip. Stop now, your view and meditation will be like waving a spear in the sky. Now, even if you ask others for some Dharma, or look at some Dharma, it will be helpful. In short, do not mix my Dharma with other Dharmas, meditate like this. After that, he did not want to listen to Dharma, nor did he want to read books, he focused his mind solely on meditation, and as a result, he later merged into the state of Samadhi, and now he does not need the effort of meditation.

It is said that when asked if he was going to Rating Monastery to practice, the monastery person said, "Now, contemplation is like waving a spear in the sky." After that, the patron asked the monastery person, "The Dharma that the master taught, do you secretly practice it yourself, and the Dharma to be taught to others, do you learn from other Geshes and then teach it?" The monastery person said, "If there is clean water and unclean water in one place, the two will mix together. So, do not listen to other people's Dharma, nor teach it, just concentrate on practice." After saying that, he only practiced, and later it seemed that countless merits arose, but he did not say it. Therefore, the practice method of the Jowo Kadampa is also like this. Our Milarepa's lineage is also like this, do not mix other instructions, practice it yourself, and only teach this to others, do not mix too much, otherwise it will be like not believing in anything, there will be no blessing." The meaning of this sentence is: The guiding master who has good karmic connections with oneself in previous lives, after determining that he is the nature of all Buddhas, without doubt or hesitation, follow what he says and protect the lineage. Just like a virtuous son inherits a good lineage and maintains noble behavior, it will bring happiness. Following that holy master, the order of practice that was previously obtained from other Kagyu masters should also be put down in the way of accumulating merits, and the previous instructions should be integrated into the instructions of that holy master to practice. How should our own continuum be tamed? Only the great master who possesses the compassion of exhausting defilements and possesses the Dharma eye that is free for the benefit of others can know, if one restricts one's own continuum, it is like groping in the dark, just looking for things. Therefore, when Dromtonpa met Jowo Rinpoche, he diligently followed the lineage of Jowo Rinpoche, just like the blessings of all the relied upon masters, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas gathered together. After Phagmo Drupa met Gampopa, the Dharma he had practiced before

The countless rivers all converge into the ocean-like teachings of Lord Gampopa, and through practice, they receive the blessings of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, becoming the supreme among the glorious Dagpo Kagyu teachings. When transmitting the path and its fruit instructions of the glorious protector Virupa, they also teach with the blessings of the glorious Naropa's instructions, maturing and liberating the disciples' minds. This is like feeding a lion cub with elephant milk infused with the essence of heavenly nectar. By upholding the Dagpo lineage's mark—the headdress with streamers—and relying on maintaining the unbroken lineage of the Kagyu Dagpo Lhaje's marks, attire, and name, they propagate the practice lineage's teachings in the world, making them unparalleled. Like this, the Kagyu lineage considers this kind of meaningful transformation and blessing transmission necessary. Ban Gar Jampal Zangpo once said, "I pray to the Buddha who knows the three times (referring to Gampopa), I am also someone given the name of a lineage holder, please steadfastly focus on me." As it is said, in this lineage, the deeds of Phagdru are like a speck of dust on the great earth. Therefore, if one does not grasp the essence of the Kagyu teachings that can counteract the two obscurations and bring unwavering conviction, even if one asks many lamas for various methods to tame one's mind and meditates on them, no signs of liberation or realization will arise in one's mindstream. Eventually, one will lose faith in the lamas and the Kagyu teachings, clinging only to worldly affairs of this life, and gradually one's devotion will disappear. If this happens, like a child of many fathers losing their lineage, one will not accomplish anything for oneself or others, and one's life will be spent meaninglessly. Therefore, once a reliable measure of the Kagyu lineage, which can bring the taste of liberation, arises in one's mindstream, all beings in the ten directions, throughout the boundless expanse of space, who desire liberation, will join my Kagyu lineage.
