Just as it does not harm non-existence, if cause and effect are established without examining self-nature, then what harm is there in stating faults in cause and effect with self-nature? Therefore, the refutations of the substantialists against the Madhyamikas are merely statements made with their own conceptual mind (from the back of page 315). They think that the Madhyamikas will definitely admit the opposite meaning that they desire, and thus engage in refutation and establishment. They think that the Madhyamikas, like them, want to establish their own side, the other side, the object to be established, the means of establishment, to refute, to overturn, etc., and thus engage in debate. Therefore, all the refutations made by the substantialists against the Madhyamikas are merely refutations launched by their own conceptual mind without fully understanding the meaning of the former. In the doha of my father, a siddha named Sangye Nyenpa, it is said: All of you who want to establish me as real, all those who accept scripture and reasoning, because you are very afraid of me being non-existent, you do meaningless refutation and establishment. If there is no clinging to the two aspects of me being real and me being non-existent, then the debate of refutation and establishment will return to itself, and even billions of scriptures and reasonings cannot harm it. Even if you have not been to the monastery of Phodong Sang, you can still utter the lion's roar that surpasses everything, and proclaim it from the depths of dispelling the mist. Just as the glorious Khachö Wangpo said: No matter how good the view of the doctrine is, it goes against the meaning of reality. Here, too, it can be said: No matter how good the reasoning of valid cognition is, it contradicts reality and brings darkness. That is the meaning. Therefore, even if we examine the example of the eye and the magnet, etc., which can function without contact, it cannot be established because the faults are the same. As it is said in the treatise: If a lamp can dispel darkness without contact, (front of page 316) then the darkness that exists in all the worlds should also be dispelled by the lamp that exists here. And as it is said in the Refutation of Disputes: Or, even if it does not come into contact with fire, it can dispel darkness, then the fire that exists here should dispel the darkness of all the realms of the world. The fourth point is: How easy it is to make all things realize that they are without self-nature! Similarly, it is impossible to easily comprehend other self-natures. Why does the net of bad speculation bind the world here?

Just as illusions, dreams, reflections, and other examples inherent in the world, it is very easy to make all things of samsara and nirvana realize that they have no substance. Similarly, it is impossible to easily make others understand that things have inherent existence, because there is no example that applies to both. Therefore, even if you are cursed by someone to the point of harming the reputation of the world, you are still wrapped in innate afflictions like a silkworm cocoon, and trapped in the net of the bad views of pervasive imputation. Therefore, this world previously mistakenly thought that things were real, so why would it now entrust the clinging to reality to this? Even if it is not entrusted, it has been entrusted to the clinging of elaboration since beginningless time. After entrusting, because of madness, it revolves in samsara, in the violent waves of the ocean of suffering, how pitiful! Therefore, please abandon the argument that my Madhyamaka reasoning is irrefutable. Therefore, for all things of samsara and nirvana, there is no valid direct perception or inference that establishes that they have function, because the objects to be measured by it—own-character and general-character—cannot be established. Like a reflection. If unanalyzed direct perception is generally considered in the world to be in accordance with reality, then the only thing in accordance with reality is omniscient wisdom. If omniscient wisdom is not established, then it should be established. Because that valid cognition, in any object and subject, is separate from all self-awareness and other-awareness. In the commentary, it should be said: 'That also exists conventionally, following the scriptures.' And the record says 'It does not exist as a real thing,' this is not the view of Master Chandrakirti. If reason can establish all dharmas in name, then it can also establish omniscient wisdom. If omniscient wisdom cannot be established, then in name, one cannot prevent the elaboration of all dharmas, or one must think that even in name, omniscient wisdom is not real. Fifth, the remaining refutations previously revealed are also known. Here, abandonment is done for the sake of answering the views of the touching and other schools. In any case, refute the opponent.
