Although it is true that it does not exist even in name, the basis of the self that is revered by many exists in name, because sentient beings focus on the aggregates and grasp them as self. Then, the self of the Lokayata also exists in name, because worldly people do not consider from the self-aggregates whether it is the same or different, permanent or impermanent, and so on. No, because they acknowledge the aggregates as the basis of self-grasping after analyzing with reason, and they acknowledge that it cannot be said to be the same or different. Because when analyzed, it is impossible to exist even in name, and because it is not known in the world in this way. Worldly people do not acknowledge it in this way after analyzing with reason, so if not analyzed, there is no contradiction in being the aggregates as the basis of self-grasping, and it is only that they have not engaged in considering whether it is the same or different, etc., and it is not because of the reason of being unspeakable that (274n) it is considered to be true. When analyzed with reason or in the face of the noble one's equipoise, all the selves that are the objects of innate and imputed do not exist, because they are harmed by all the reasonings that will be explained. In that way, the self that is the object of the innate is like Lhas Byin, who is imputed in dependence on the aggregates, for example, like a pot that is imputed on a collection. This does not prevent it from existing conventionally without analyzing the name, but if analyzed, it prevents the two truths of existing by nature, because the view of the perishable collection, which has it as its object, arises from all defilements and faults based on the innate, and because the noble one's equipoise does not see it even in name. The imputed self is prevented in both truths, because it does not agree with the names of the noble ones and worldly people, and because the self-view that has it as its object also increases, expands, and strengthens the innate self-view, and because if one is attached to it, the path of liberation and omniscience will not necessarily arise from the Middle Way, which abandons the two extremes. However, since the root of samsara is grasping at the innate self, it is not appropriate to only explain the reasoning that prevents the imputed self without explaining the reasoning that prevents the self that is its object in the scriptures. No, the innate object self and the person

When terms like "I" and "sentient beings" are accepted without investigation, they are not objects to be refuted. Since they cannot be refuted and there is no need to refute them, they are not refuted. However, when they are refuted after investigation, they do not go beyond the three modes of reasoning. Therefore, the reasoning that refutes the three aspects of imputed self is also the reasoning that refutes the innate self. Because it refutes all the objects of the twenty peaks of the mountain of views of disintegration, it is not the case that the innate self is not refuted in the treatises. As for the self of phenomena: attachment to all phenomena from form to omniscience as their own nature mostly exists only in nominal delusion. In particular, among these attachments, those that are known or can be known in the world, and those that the Tathagata speaks of in the scriptures merely as terms for the sake of disciples, mostly exist in nominal delusion. Those that are not known in the world and not spoken of by the Tathagata, but are fabricated by the conceptualizations of internal and external heretics, such as the six and nine meanings of knowable words and the twenty-four natures, as well as indivisible atoms, the hidden meaning of external objects, the dependent nature of non-duality as truth, the alaya-consciousness, the uncompounded permanence of the sugata-garbha adorned with marks and signs, the established self as a valid term, and the establishment of truth in the absence of inherent existence as ultimately true, do not even exist nominally. Then, are the alaya-consciousness and so on not spoken of by the Buddha? If the teacher speaks without investigation, there are two types of speech in terms of convention: direct and indirect. Such speech is indirect and intentional even in terms of convention. Therefore, our own schools cling to the idea that the teacher speaks in terms of convention, and therefore speaks in this way. However, such speech is not definitive in terms of convention. If the teacher speaks after investigation, it is definitive in both truths, and not indirect. In short, the nature of all phenomena from form to omniscience, and especially all imputations, is emptiness of inherent existence in both truths, which is the excellent lifeblood of these Madhyamaka doctrines. If one wonders what meaning is accomplished by these well-explained teachings, the great Tsongkhapa of the East said: The Vaibhashikas, Sautrantikas, Cittamatrins, and Svatantrika-Madhyamakas,
