I take refuge with reverence in the three doors. The ocean of the Sangha, increasing the moon of the Guru's body, the sons of the Victorious Ones. The nectar of the Guru's speech, the sacred Dharma, preventing the heat of afflictions of those to be tamed. The sun of the Guru's mind, uprooting the darkness of the two obscurations, is the Buddha. The lotus feet of the Guru, the embodiment of the Three Jewels, I worship with my head until enlightenment. The wisdom of your knowledge is without limit, following after all that is knowable. Your loving compassion is unbiased, equal to the number of limitless beings. Your powerful activity is unimpeded, overturning the immeasurable cycle of existence. I respectfully prostrate to the Guru, the embodiment of the wisdom of the Buddhas of the three times. Abiding in the discipline pleasing to the Noble Ones, your bodily conduct is completely pure. Holding the treasure of nectar of the ocean of instructions, your speech activity gathers beings. Seeing the truth of reality directly, your mind is equal to all the Buddhas. Remembering the Guru's qualities, I close my lotus hands at my crown. Even seeing the image of the Guru's body increases the ocean of faith. Hearing the sound of the Guru's voice plants the seed of liberation. Being blessed by the Guru's mind, all fears of existence and peace are dispelled. I pray that the King of Dharma, with spontaneously accomplished activity, will protect me until enlightenment. Gathering all my body, possessions, and virtuous accumulations, without exception. Blessing them into a vast cloud of Samantabhadra offerings, with reverence, I always worship the glorious Guru, the King of Dharma, with a pure mind. I pray that you, with impartial compassion, will bless my being without separation. Weighed down by the burden of various negative actions, my faith and diligence are weak. Driven by the wind of sudden misfortunes, I am a helpless and pitiful being. Please lead me with the hand of great love and compassion into the palace of liberation and bliss. Swiftly grant me the breath of rest, O peaceful and subdued Guru, King of Dharma. On the ground of the naturally luminous mind, plant the seed of the altruistic mind. Nurture it with the moisture of renunciation and compassion, well-guarded by the skillful farmer. The ears of pure view are bent low, rich with the fruits of numerous qualities. I pray that you grant me the accomplishment of becoming a resource for limitless beings. Nourished by the food of ripening nectar, blazing with the splendor of the youth of the generation and completion stages, Adorned with the ornaments of non-dual conduct, Heruka Guru. With the unwavering confidence of realization, may you experience the good fortune of seeing the ranks of vidyadharas (knowledge holders) and dakinis (sky dancers)! Born from the moon of the two accumulations (merit and wisdom), you are the lotus consort of the mandala of his body. Guided by the chariot of wondrous bodhicitta (enlightenment mind), you are the city of the field of merit for those to be tamed. May the rays of the Dharma's speech shine forth, and until the end of time, may the auspicious vision of undying, constant, blazing glory remain firm! May the guru's compassion dispel the discordant winter chill from the minds of beings, and with devotion like the warmth of spring, may it nourish them well, bringing the abundance of summer in the present, and the joyous feast of ultimate liberation like the good fruits of autumn, causing the feast of well-being and happiness of the ocean of beings to increase and grow exceedingly! This was written due to the devotion arising from seeing the wondrous image of the kind guru, crafted by skillful artistry, on the morning of the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of Saga (Vesakha), the guru's festival, by a devoted disciple of the guru himself, named Kunga (Joyful), may it be virtuous and auspicious! Having comprehended the intention of Jamyang (Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom) Guru, Kunga Zangpo (All Good Excellent One), prophesied by the Buddhas, may you uphold the victory banner of the teachings forever! I supplicate at the feet of the root guru! The embodiment of the three kindnesses, the venerable Lord of Dharma, the gathering of the Three Refuges, glorious protector guru, with reverence in body, speech, and mind, I supplicate from the depths of my heart, may you continuously bestow your blessings throughout the three times! In all my lifetimes, may I be cared for with great love by a qualified guru, and from all the fears of samsara (cyclic existence) and nirvana (liberation), I beseech you, protector, to deliver me! This was written by Kunga Gyaltsen (Joyful Banner) to fulfill the wishes of Nyer Trashi Choden (Nyer Auspicious Dharma), may it be virtuous! May I resolutely abandon my own mind, unmixed with the true Dharma, and the seemingly altruistic actions that only increase distraction, seeing that I am thrown into the abyss of being controlled by external circumstances, may I be able to resolutely abandon them! In the delightful solitude of uninhabited mountains, abandoning all meaningless worldly activities, with the diligence of remembering death without delay, may I seize the fearless stronghold! May I see the qualified guru as the actual Buddha, take the profound instructions as the essence of my heart, and be urged on by the iron hook of diligent practice, may I attain the qualities of the path! In the moment of remembering the venerable guru, Having determined that there is nothing other than the peaceful and wrathful deities of the three kayas (dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, nirmanakaya), may my mind and his become inseparable!
