That barren land, recognized for their power and renowned for great respect, soon after, the king of that land, the queen without a son, ministers, and city leaders gathered and crowned Prince Fortune Power as king. He, through the power of fortune, caused the territory to touch the state of ease. Because of these reasons, King Light Power heard of it and appointed the young Fortune Power as the owner of the kingdom. Furthermore, one hundred years after the passing of the Teacher, in the city of Pataliputra, there was a king named Ashoka, who possessed one-fourth of the glory of a Chakravartin, who initially followed unwholesome friends and committed many sins. Later, when he became diligent in accumulating merit, he sent five hundred merchants to retrieve jewels for the sake of wealth. They filled ships with gems, gold, silver, diamonds, beryl, conch shells, coral, and so on, and set sail for their own country. When the ships were in the middle of the ocean, the nagas destroyed the ships and plundered all the wealth without exception. The king cleaned the pleasure garden, adorned it with decorations, prepared a place to display various kinds of jewels and utensils, and all the crowds gathered there to watch. Those merchants came in a miserable state and told the king the story. At that time, the monk Power was teaching, writing on a copper plate: 'This land is protected from being encroached upon by the ocean. King Ashoka, the powerful, extremely fierce and strong. Whoever dwells in the ocean and carries away wealth, let them quickly send those things to me.' After writing this, he threw it into the ocean, and the Naga King threw it back to Jambudvipa (Sanskrit: Jambudvipa, one of the four continents, referring to the human realm). There, the messenger reported to the king. The king understood in his heart, and as he pondered what methods there were, a deity said that if he made offerings to the relics of the Teacher, merit would increase and things would be accomplished. So the king washed his hair, put on white clothes, held incense and garlands of flowers, and invited those who had attained miraculous powers in the ten directions, and made great sounds of supplication. Sixty thousand arhats gathered, and

They offered extensive service and offerings to the Sangha, including the presentation of parasols. The Bhagavan offered countless kinds of offerings to the relics of the Buddha, including the five offerings. At that time, the king and the dragon transformed into the forms of a king and a dragon, and placed in a golden vessel, they measured the magnitude of merit. As a result, they saw the king bowing to the dragon form. The Bhikshu Great Virtue said, "You should continue to accumulate merit!" The king gradually accumulated vast amounts of resources, and eventually saw all the limbs of the dragon bowing to the king. Then he said: "Alas! What a sight of the result of offering to the Three Jewels! The dragon dwelling in the ocean, I have tamed and can control. O people of little wisdom! Who would not worship the Buddha? Who would not rejoice in offering the fruit? Who would not contemplate with their minds? Those who desire to attain great freedom, gods and humans! You should truly offer to the perfectly enlightened Buddha, cut off birth and death, and no longer reincarnate!" Thus he spoke. The Bhikshu Great Virtue also instructed, "Throw the copper tablet letter to the dragon realm!" After doing as instructed, the dragon king received the letter with the top of his head and promised to return the treasures. That was also as taught by the Great Virtue, writing on the copper tablet letter: "As a punishment for violating the command of the holy sovereign of Jambudvipa, each of you must carry the guilt on your own shoulders and bring it here!" After writing and throwing it, the dragon was frightened and promised to deliver it in seven days. As promised, in the center of the city, where many people had gathered, the king sat on a lion throne. The dragons transformed into human form, placed the jewels on their shoulders, and bowed to the king's feet. The king then praised the virtues of the Buddha's teachings: "Merit will not be burned by fire, nor will it be destroyed by wind. Merit will not be dissolved by water, nor will it be carried away like earth. Neither kings nor thieves can steal merit. Neither men nor women can take it away. Merit is a treasure that generates happiness, it will not be abandoned, wherever one is born, it will follow there." Thus he spoke. Therefore, only merit.
